  • Ep70: Rabindranath Tagore: The forest school as inspiration for our modern world
    2022/11/24

Dave and Bob discuss nature education, poetry, and school reform, using the lens of Rabindranath Tagore, and Bengali Nobel Prize winner who led an incredible life in the early 20th century. He changed the way we see education and is still influencing the world today. We also look at modern day decedents of his pedagogy like Richard Louv, Adrienne Maree Brown, and Audre Lorde.

  • Ep69: Season 9: No Bummers! Scheming and Dreaming
    2022/09/06

The brothers dust off their rust. They discuss how things have been over the last 9 months. And they get into an important news item that is getting left off the mainstream platter.

The theme for this season is No Bummer! Scheming and Dreaming. The Crew discusses where this idea came from and the directions they hope to take it. Episodes may include: the key bands of every decade (music) with DH, 00s nostalgia, The Peachies, Top 10 dinners, anarchism for dummies, the Rojava revolution, and sports betting and Beyond Xs and Os with Danny.

    Did You Know

In 1992, a cargo ship carrying approximately 29,000 bath toys (mostly rubber ducks) spilled in the northern Pacific Ocean. These so-called Friendly Floatees have been drifting ashore for over 20 years, sometimes in surprising parts of the world—not only Alaska, but also Hawaii, Australia, Indonesia, and Chile.

The brothers end the season with this episode. They start by discussing Dave's journey with Omicron. Dave reflects on having the bug and some lessons learned. They follow this with Bob's reflections on MLK Day and the 2020 doc MLK/FBI.

The heart of the show is wrapping up their season on Valerie Kaur's revolutionary love. They only were able to do 1/3 of the love model, but in the last episode, they reflect on the challenges of loving one's enemy and on loving one's self. At the and a shout-out to Tricia Hersey's work at the Nap Ministry.

The end with some Suberb Owl predications (lol, so old now). And a promo for Julie's class on health for teens and tweens and the divine feminine!

  • Ep66: Boulder Trip 2021: Great Hang-outs and Historic Fires
    2022/01/17

In the first show of 2022 the Crew starts off by discussing the Omicron Covid Surge.

The main topic for the show was Bob’s trip to Boulder. Bob summarizes his trip, which had some magical elements to it. David reflects on the reality that the pandemic has minimized or taken away the ability to hang out.

The brothers share their reflections on experiencing the fires in Boulder. Part of the experience was affording an even deeper connection to Boulder. They then refer back to The Ministry of the Future by Kim Stanley Robinson as a helpful book on climate fiction (Cli-fi), and they discuss one of the ideas there of monetizing green energy.
