  • THINK TANK with Stephanie Smyth, Mark Saunders & Brad Bradford
    2024/11/27
Greg Brady and the panel of: Stephanie Smyth, broadcaster, Smyth Media Group, Brad Bradford, Toronto city councillor for Beaches - East York, Mark Saunders, former Toronto police chief, mayoral candidate Discuss: 1 - OPP is investigating a man shooting at multiple cars across the 401 yesterday in Mississauga. Isn’t it well past time our government and the ministry of transportation were better equipped with more efficient camera systems across the major highways so we can easily identify criminals or even who is at fault in automobile accidents? What’s stopping that from happening already? 2 - Premier Doug Ford is calling on the prime minister to take a threat from Donald Trump on tariffs seriously, but he says he is also planning action of his own (Alberta Premier Danielle Smith had similar comments). Can you see a scenario where many Canadian Premiers just go around Trudeau and by-pass him and make their own deals with Trump and the U.S? 3 - WHY is city council still trying to figure out why they can’t vote on the World Cup coming? • The core issues behind these protests start at the top with the Prime Minister
    2024/11/25
Senator Leo Housakos joined Toronto Today with Greg Brady to discuss the protest turned riot in Montreal this past weekend. Senator Housakos explained how he opposed the scenes in Montreal and said it was something he never dreamed of ever seeing here in Canada. He laid blame at the doorstep of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and believes the core issues behind these protests start at the top with the PM. Senator Housakos also stated that police have their hands tied in managing the protests and says that many politicians don't have their back in supporting how to manage the protests. He also pointed out the differences in response to the protest compared to the trucker "freedom convoy" in Ottawa in 2022 vs the pro-Palestine protests in Montreal this weekend. • THINK TANK with Ana Bailao, Anthony Furey, & Ryan Painter

Greg Brady and the panel of: Ryan Painter, freelance columnist, consultant, public speaker, & author of the political newsletter Painter's Political Pulse on SubStack, Ana Bailao, former Toronto city councillor, deputy mayor, housing expert, Anthony Furey, columnist, 640 Toronto Contributor, city council candidate for Don Valley West Discuss: 1- Trudeau was spotted partying at the Taylor Swift concert with his daughter, are you ok with him blowing off some steam and enjoying time with his family or was it bad optics doing so in such a public setting? 2 - The right to protest is guaranteed under the Canadian charter of rights and freedoms, but should the charter cover the right to protest political issues that have absolutely nothing to do with Canada or Canadians? (in light of what we saw in Montreal this weekend) 3 - We keep seeing more and more young people involved in serious, violent crimes like this weekend's home invasion in Vaughan. Is it time to revisit the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) and allow some to face adult consequences? 4 - It could be the youngest person ever arrested in a home invasion. The age? 13. Seven people arrested for a break-in in Vaughan…one suspect is still at large after fleeing AFTER being handcuffed. Also arrested- FOUR 17-year olds, and TWO 18-year olds.
