God commands his people to honor their father and their mother for life. This looks like humble obedience and deference during childhood, and ongoing support and care into adulthood. Praying for this sermon to help your children respect and obey you more from now on.

God instituted the seventh day as a day of rest and worship for Israel to remember him and to stop their work. While Christ fulfills the Sabbath and we no longer follow it as a ceremony, there are important lessons for us to learn about work, rest, and worship from the Sabbath passages.

Because God made mankind in his image, he forbids murder (the unjustified taking of a human life). We studied what the Bible calls murder and the killing that is not condemned as murder. And our students were warned about the hateful murder of the heart that we are all guilty of and need to forsake.

God gives clear instructions about the improper way to speak of him, about him, and to him. Yet most people today blatantly disregard his instructions and Christians should never be the ones to use God’s name wrongly.
