  • Towards the end of his campaign for President in 1996, Bob Dole famously asked incredulously, “where’s the outrage?”

Dole was frustrated that Bill Clinton’s myriad scandals were not registering as important to voters, who, instead, focused on the booming economy and were ready to reward Clinton with a second term.

It was a similar frustration to what George H.W. Bush expressed in 1992. Bush could not understand why voters did not see Clinton's draft dodging, college pot smoking, womanizing and other scandals as disqualifying.

Dole and Bush's refrain is similar to what I often hear regarding Trump. How are voters not more horrified by his scandals, conduct and temperament? On this podcast, I look at how, despite the concerns that voters do have about Trump's character, as of today, there is clear preference for his policies and leadership, which is why he continues to lead.
