Why did I still get it? Was there something else I could have done to prevent it? A couple years later, I am grateful to be cancer-free and now I’m on a mission to share everything I’ve learned about mitigating risk, managing symptoms, and staying mentally well when bad things happen – even if you “did everything right!” ‘Why Did I Get Cancer‘ features: • Eye-opening information about health/cancer risks that surround us (and solutions to mitigate risks) • Health & lifestyle tips to lower risk (easier and quicker than you’d think!) • Inexpensive solutions for lowering cancer risk DISCLAIMER: The information provided on this podcast pertaining to your health or wellness, or any other aspect of your life is not intended to be a substitute for the professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment provided by your own Medical Provider or Mental Health Provider. 🌙 Sleep Better, Live Better: Your Guide to Restful Nights and Peaceful Days 🌱 We all know sleep is important, but getting a good night's rest can sometimes feel impossible. Here are simple tips to help you sleep better, get your body clock back on track, and feel better overall. 🌞 1. Reset Your Circadian Rhythm with Light Your body does best with a regular routine, and your body clock runs more smoothly when you stick to a schedule. Wake up at the same time each day and get some natural light right away. Just 10-15 minutes outside or by a window helps your body know when to be awake and when to sleep. As evening comes, spend less time looking at bright screens (yes, your phone too) and use softer, dimmer lights. This tells your body it is time to relax and get ready for sleep. 🌙 2. Ground Yourself Before Bed "Grounding" means connecting with the earth to feel more balanced. Walking barefoot on grass or sitting on the ground for a few minutes can help you feel calmer, relax, and sleep better. 💔 3. Say Goodbye to Toxic People We all meet people who make us feel tired, and they can affect our sleep too. If you are around people who bring you down, it is harder to relax. Take time to protect your peace. Set limits with people who drain you and spend more time with those who make you feel good. 🌱 4. Relax and Wind Down Sometimes your body needs help winding down. Create a calming bedtime ritual, like reading, journaling, or soothing music. A warm bath or light stretching can also prepare you for sleep. Try to avoid anything too stimulating right before bed no stressful conversations! Better sleep is within your reach. Reset your rhythm, ground yourself, and avoid toxins for restful nights. Sweet dreams and take care of yourself! 🌙💖 ______ My newsletter https://whydidigetcancerbydeborahenos.myflodesk.com/newslettersignup ______ Connect with Deborah Deborah on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/whydidigetcancer/ Deborah on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DebsHealthCoachKitchen Deborah on Twitter: https://twitter.com/ydidigetcancer Deborah on Pinterest: https://in.pinterest.com/whydidigetcancer/ Join Deb's weekly newsletter: https://whydidigetcancerbydeborahenos.myflodesk.com/newslettersignup Learn more about your ad choices. • 143. What Happens In Vagus (Nerve)...
    2025/12/18
In 2019, my voice was so hoarse that people could hardly hear what I was saying. Along with my hoarse voice, I struggled to swallow food, felt a burning sensation in my chest and on several nights woke up gasping for air I was terrified! After consulting with two different doctors, I finally received a diagnosis: GERD, or gastrointestinal reflux disease. When I heard this, my first thought was, hold on, I am not a middle-aged man! I thought GERD was something that happened after years of smoking and drinking too much beer. My physician prescribed drugs (what a surprise), but not much else was suggested. So, you know me, I decided to take a deeper dive into the root cause of this disorder. Guess what? I learned that the Vagus Nerve (the longest cranial nerve in the body) was probably the key player in fixing my symptoms. I started to “work on” healing my Vagus Nerve. This included gargling and humming! Today’s podcast guest, Dr. Navaz Habib, aka The Vagus Nerve Doc, confirmed that gargling and humming are two ways to support this nerve. He had three additional suggestions that have been so easy to implement. Seriously, I can support my Vagus Nerve in just a few minutes per day, usually while I am doing other simple tasks or running errands. ______ My Newsletter https://whydidigetcancerbydeborahenos.myflodesk.com/newslettersignup ______ Connect with Dr. Navaz Habib Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drnavazhabib/ FaceBook: https://www.facebook.com/DrNavazHabib ______ Connect with Deborah Deborah on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/whydidigetcancer/ Deborah on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DebsHealthCoachKitchen Deborah on Twitter: https://twitter.com/ydidigetcancer Deborah on Pinterest: https://in.pinterest.com/whydidigetcancer/ Join Deb's weekly newsletter: https://whydidigetcancerbydeborahenos.myflodesk.com/newslettersignup Learn more about your ad choices. • 142. Sleep: Nature's Ultimate Healer
    2025/12/04
Sleep makes everything in life easier. Years ago, a doctor told me, "If you're not sleeping well, you can't be well." That's quite a bit of pressure! The last thing I want to think about when I'm in bed is feeling stressed about falling asleep. But guess what? Today's podcast guest, Holistic Sleep Coach Morgan Adams, shared a tip that has helped me fall asleep faster. She explained the research behind creating a list of "concerns and actions" and writing it down about 2 to 3 hours before bedtime. Studies show that this simple act of putting your stress on paper helps lower stress hormones, allowing your body to sleep more soundly. I also appreciate the part of this exercise where I outline my action plan for addressing my stressors. I've listened to this episode three times, and each time I learn something new. My sleep is improving after years of complaining about it! Why am I so excited to make gift guides each year? I know holiday gifting can feel overwhelming, but it’s also a chance to spread joy and make memories that last.
