We often see cancer as a purely physical issue, but within holistic healing, today’s guest believes that the healing is deeply spiritual. I’m thrilled about today's podcast episode featuring the remarkable Dr. Katie Deming. As an oncologist, former healthcare leader, inventor, author, and podcast host, Dr. Deming has a wealth of knowledge to offer. My recent exploration led me to her captivating TEDx talk, leaving me in awe of her insights. Known as the "Conscious Oncologist," Dr. Deming has piqued my curiosity, and I'm eager to go into the intriguing aspects of her journey and expertise. I am excited about this soul-nourishing episode! About Dr. Katie Deming Dr. Katie Deming is a renowned oncologist, former healthcare leader, and inventor who has dedicated her 16-year career to caring for cancer patients and improving their overall experience. Dr. Deming pursued her entire medical training at Duke University in North Carolina, where she honed her skills and developed a deep understanding of oncology. However, fate took an unexpected turn for Dr. Deming. Following a profound event akin to a near-death experience, she underwent a transformative realization that prompted her to reevaluate her path in traditional oncology. Driven by a newfound understanding of the complexities surrounding cancer treatment, she recognized the limitations of conventional approaches and sought a more holistic understanding of healing. In 2022, Dr. Deming made a significant career shift, leaving her role as a radiation oncologist to pursue a different path. Today, she offers integrative oncology support services, utilizing her extensive expertise to help patients bridge the gap between conventional cancer therapies and deeper, holistic healing. ______ Timeline MitoPure Gummies After my conversation with gerontologist Zora Benhamou about mitochondrial health and healthy aging, I decided to try Timeline's MitoPure Gummies. • 157. Does Happiness Kill Cancer Cells?
    2026/07/09
This is a very special episode. Why? Because a good friend of mine asked me to pick my favorite podcast to pass along to his friend, who is battling cancer. I’ve recorded hundreds of episodes. Do you know how hard it is to pick one? I spent hours reviewing my episodes and found the one recording I felt would be most impactful for this friend. It was an interview I recorded in my second year of podcasting with Dr. Kelly A. Turner, author of Radical Remission. You’re probably asking yourself, why this episode? I chose it for one reason. It’s a simple message: happiness can help kill cancer cells. Dr. Turner explained how positive emotions can affect your pituitary and pineal glands, flooding your bloodstream with oxytocin, relaxin, serotonin, and endorphins. She calls these “happy hormones,” and they will KILL CANCER CELLS. Translation: These hormones have been studied for their potential to reduce the spread and growth rate of cancer cells. This is not a hype up conversation; this data is based on numerous scientific studies. One of my big takeaways is that being happy for five minutes may be enough to get this process going! Please pass this episode along to anyone who needs encouragement today. ______ Tru Niagen After my conversation with Dr. Sandra Kaufmann about NAD and longevity, I decided to try one of her recommendations, Tru Niagen. I've been taking it for about a month, and the biggest changes I've noticed are less afternoon fatigue and better sleep. Of course, this is just my personal experience, but it's been an interesting part of my wellness routine. If you're curious about NAD, NR, and the science behind healthy aging, I highly recommend listening to my conversation with Dr. Kaufmann. She does a fantastic job explaining how NAD supports healthy aging and why timing can make a difference. • 156. Did My Dr. Drop The Ball?
    2026/06/25
I felt anxious after recording an episode today. My guest had the same cancer I had, and her oncologist has checked her twice a year for almost twenty years! That made me wonder why my oncologist no longer checks on me. She said I only needed five years of surveillance. Did My Doctor Drop The Ball on My Care? Or was this just my scan anxiety talking? I pushed the pause button on my anxiety and realized I was having the oh-so-common scan anxiety. Cancer scan anxiety is the stress, fear, or worry people may feel before, during, or while waiting for results from a cancer scan. In my case, the anxiety kicked in because I stopped getting the twice-a-year check, not because something new had happened. Even after treatment ends or previous scans have been reassuring, it is common to feel nervous before appointments. Many people report racing thoughts, trouble sleeping, irritability, or feeling distracted while waiting for answers. These feelings are a normal response to uncertainty and do not mean someone is weak or not coping well. Waiting is often the hardest part of scan anxiety. It can feel like life is on pause until the results arrive. During this time, I find that staying busy helps reduce stress. I work to maintain my normal routine, starting my day with prayer and gratitude and staying off of Dr. Google. Today’s guest, Cindy Janecka, is a counselor, a twenty-year breast cancer survivor, and author of the book, This Can’t Be Happening. I met Cindy at a dinner event, and we immediately realized how much we had in common! Today’s episode is encouraging for anyone who has ever heard those words, “You have cancer.” ______ Kirkland Signature Sea Salt Popcorn I'm always looking for snacks that are simple, satisfying, and made with clean ingredients. One of my latest Costco favorites is the Kirkland Signature Sea Salt Popcorn. I love that it's made with just three ingredients: non-GMO corn, coconut oil, and sea salt. The individual snack-size bags are also a big win. They're 90 calories, have zero sugar, and include 2 grams of fiber, making them perfect when I'm craving something crunchy without overdoing it. If you're shopping at Costco and want a delicious snack with simple ingredients, this one is definitely worth picking up.
