    2024/10/24

You know what? Making your home less toxic can be quite a puzzle! I never even thought about hidden toxins in my home until I chatted with some guests on my podcast. It got me thinking about where these toxins might be hiding.

To keep things manageable, I decided to tackle it one room at a time. I also didn't want to toss out stuff I loved and paid good money for, even if they were "just a little toxic."

And what does "just a little toxic" actually mean? HELP!

That's why I started looking for a lower-cost way to detox my home.

And that's how I found Ron and Lisa Beres, the Healthy Home Dream Team.

Lisa's life turned upside down after she became severely ill from exposure to toxins in a newly remodeled home. On her healing journey, she discovered simple and inexpensive ways to detox your home, office, and probably the most crucial room for women: the bathroom! Did you know that women are exposed to hundreds of toxins (beauty products) before leaving the house in the morning? UGH!

Clearing the Path: Eliminating Toxic Relationships for a Better Life

When your button pusher walks toward you, do you pretend not to see them?

    Okay, maybe it's just me!

Before cancer, I had a handful of toxic people in my life. I didn't spend a lot of time with them, but when I did see them, I could feel my anxiety rising even before we got together!

When today's podcast guest, Dr. Jantz, mentioned that he wanted to do a podcast about the impact of toxic people on our health, I was all in!

Spending time with toxic people can affect your health in the following ways:

    • It can increase your sympathetic response, leading to higher heart rate, blood pressure, and breathing rate.
    • Your body may produce more stress hormones, which can cause inflammation.
    • It can also damage your confidence and affect your sense of identity.

How do you move the toxic people out of your life, especially if they are family members?

Dr. Jantz suggested having a friend or spouse nearby when dealing with difficult family members at events. If you get upset, use a pre-agreed safe word to signal for support in removing yourself from the situation. With some pre-planning, you can avoid getting caught up in their negativity.

Listen to today's podcast to hear the rest of Dr. J.'s tips on dealing with toxic people.

  • 91. Take a Chill Pill. Is staying peaceful the key to health?…with Dr. Natalie Greenberg
    2024/10/10
Take a Chill Pill. Oh Lord, help me to relax and push the pause button. Today's guest, Dr. Natalie Greenberg from The Center for New Medicine, explained how important it is for my health to hit the pause button. She also mentioned that when life gets overwhelming, It's crucial to pause and take a deep breath before reacting to any situation. Her words spoke to me. I tend to be an "over-responder." I might get irritated with someone before I have all the information about a situation. I might wake up upset because of a restless night, and my negative thoughts kick in, telling me how tough the day will be. How could my life be different if, instead of following my default of reacting, I took a minute, slowed down my breathing, pushed the pause button, gathered my thoughts, and then responded INSTEAD of reacting? Nervous System: This would help my body stay in a parasympathetic state (the rest and digest state), so my body wouldn't produce as many stress hormones. This means I'd have lower levels of inflammation and, honestly, better relationships! Immune System: Staying calm supports the immune system and allows your body to produce more "happy hormones," such as serotonin and melatonin, which means you fall asleep faster. The Joy Factor: thinking the best about people means I look for joy everywhere I go. When I see someone wearing a cute outfit or making me a fabulous matcha latte, I PRAISE THEM! The Bible says, to the best of my abilities, be at peace with people at all times. Pro tip: The scripture above says that, to the best of my abilities, sometimes it's impossible to be at peace with some people, and you know what? That's okay, too. The older I get, the more I realize my gift to people is letting them be who they are.
