Why Libraries and Black Librarians Matter w/ Brie Chillious S3 E3
In this episode of Beneath The Surface I am in conversation with Brieanna “Brie” Chillious one of two Black Librarians in Pima County as well as a candidate for Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) School Board. We discuss her journey of becoming a librarian. The important role that libraries play in communities, why we need more Black Librarians in library systems and what she hopes to accomplish if she is elected to the TUSD School Board.

Brieanna “Brie” Chillious Bio
My name is Brieanna Chillious, but I prefer to be referred to as Brie (like the cheese)! I am a Children's Librarian within the Pima County Public Library System (and am actually the county's first Black Children's Librarian...ever). I am currently running for one of the spots for the Tucson Unified School District's (TUSD) School Governing Board in this year's election, which is a major feat alone, especially as a former school district employee (specifically, as a former school library assistant).
