Another incredible Winged Wheel Podcast Night at the LCA on the books, but unfortunately also a frustrating weekend for the Detroit Red Wings (0:00)

Tune in as we start by discussing the loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Pavel Datsyuk Hall of Fame Game night, including defensive play, Dylan Larkin's goal-scoring streak and power play prowess (from Lucas Raymond and Alex DeBrincat), Moritz Seider's unfortunate turnover with Patrick Kane behind him and Cam Talbot leaving the net, & more (6:25). Next, the 4-0 loss to Igor Shesterkin and the New York Rangers, including Quick's solid game, Lucas Raymond & Co. not capitalizing on key chances, Derek Lalonde's squad's penalty killing and 5v5 offensive woes, & lots more (15:50).

We then discuss Hockeytown's vibes through 14 games, whether things are actually this negative or if there's even too much positivity, what Steve Yzerman has in front of him in terms of roster, defensive holes behind Seider & Edvinsson, & more (30:10) before we give some good news on Lucas Raymond's career comparables to Datsyuk and Zetterberg and Dmitri Buchelnikov's fantastic season in the KHL (40:30).

After that, a thorough discussion on the new NCAA-CHL agreement, how it would affect the careers of prospects like Celibrini, Rasmussen in the past, & other stars, and what this means of the OHL, QMJHL, WHL, USHL, NCAA, and the rest of the hockey system (43:30). We wrap with NHL news including the Winnipeg Jets' historic start, Fabbro to Columbus, Sprong traded again, & plenty more (53:00) before we take your questions & comments in our Overtime segment (58:25) - enjoy!

  • Vintage Larkin, Seider and Edvinsson Dominate, and Datsyuk to the Hall - Nov. 7th, 2024
    2024/11/07

WWP NIGHT w/ the GRAND RAPIDS GRIFFINS TICKETS: https://griffinshockey.com/wwp

No matter how tough the season, nothing is better than the Detroit Red Wings beating the Chicago Blackhawks - especially in Chicago.

Tune in as we discuss how Dylan Larkin & Alex DeBrincat, looking like their vintage selves, led the Detroit Red Wings to victory over Bedard and the Hawks, including strong play from Cam Talbot, Patrick Kane, Moritz Seider (who had a cordial exchange with Bedard after a nasty high stick), Simon Edvinsson, Lucas Raymond, Jonatan Berggre & Marco Kasper gelling, Andrew Copp, Joe Veleno, & the rest of the Hockeytown squad under Derek Lalonde (4:50). We then talk about how Steve Yzerman's team, though struggling on defense with Gustafsson, Petry, and others, is still currently in a playoff spot (23:10).

After that, we visit the Seider - Edvinsson pairing usage and how it stacks up to last season, Walman, the rest of the league, & more, as well as revisiting the whole "Larkin seems a bit off" conversation - which he promptly put to rest (26:45).

Next, a quick discusson on whether Patrick Kane can make Team USA alongside the Tkachuk's at the 4 Nations Faceoff and our favorite Pavel Datsyuk moments as he heads into the Hockey Hall of Fame (sadly not alongside Henrik Zetterberg) (38:40), before jumping into NHL news including Kaprizov's Hart start, Barry Trotz's rebuild warnings in Nashville despite Stamkos & Co. just being signed, & plenty more (42:30) before we take your questions & comments in our Overtime segment (55:10) - enjoy!

  • Larkin, Talbot Win It and Raymond's Sneaky Start - Nov. 3rd, 2024
    2024/11/04

WWP NIGHT w/ the GRAND RAPIDS GRIFFINS TICKETS: https://griffinshockey.com/wwp

The Detroit Red Wings got back in the win column, thanks in large part to Cam Talbot and Dylan Larkin!

Tune in as we break down the Hockeytown win over the Buffalo Sabres, including the red-hot power play, Larkin's redemption and game-winner, Cam Talbot matching Alex Lyon and carrying Detroit to a victory, Jonatan Berggren buzzing but not producing yet alongside Marco Kasper, and how Moritz Seider, Simon Edvinsson & Co. fared defensively against Dahlin's Sabres (4:55). After that, an analysis on how Derek Lalonde's squad is faring at 5v5 compared to the power play offensively, what this doesn to players like Patrick Kane, Lucas Raymond, Alex DeBrincat, & others, & whether this can turn around in time before Steve Yzerman has to shake things up (17:45).

Next, an analysis on Lucas Raymond's sneaky good start to the season (33:40), how Dylan Larkin looks off despite producing, & more on the Detroit Red Wings squad's path forward (43:15).

Finally, NHL news including Marchand's Boston Bruins flailing, Alex Ovechkin's goal chase and soaring Washington Capitals, & plenty more (48:40) before we take your questions & comments in our Overtime segment (56:30) - enjoy!
