Witches in the Stacks: Charmed Chatter

  • サマリー

  • Lex and T both have a deep fascination and respect for worlds of fantasy, different mythologies, and different practices of faith. They're also librarians and have the skills and willingness to do ALL of the research! While this may not be a "Charmed" re-watch podcast; and, while their comments will include plenty of opinion, they’ll also be sharing researched facts, background, and support as they explore the different facets of the show. Buckle in and join them as they explore the world of the Charmed Ones!

  • Not today, Javna! Keep that Evil Eye Away!
    2024/10/31

We’re not done with talking about the “evil eye” yet! This episode features special guest, Joe Hernandez, colleague and fellow Latino scholar who rubs that egg all over himself to get rid of those negative vibes! We take some time discussing the analytical mind versus the cultural tradition/superstition mind. We also take a deeper dive looking at personal experiences. Enjoy and feel free to share your own experiences in the comments!

  • Thou Shalt Not Suffer...

We’re on to the 2nd episode of Season 1 of Charmed with, “I’ve Got You Under My Skin.” Still establishing the world, we felt it important to follow chronologically for a bit for now. In this episode, we explore religion - with some exploration of our resident Catholic’s opinions peppered in, the Salem Witch Trials, mal de ojo (evil eye), the Hand of Fatima, and so much more! TRIGGER WARNING: At around 0:21:36-0:21:59, sexual assault is briefly mentioned as a motivator during the historical witch trials. Note1: Opinions and commentary on organized religions will be shared by hosts and are based on personal experiences, perceptions, and the research presented by others. Despite this, the hosts would like to clarify that they respect the right for individuals to choose and practice their chosen faiths or religions without discrimination or persecution. Note2: Anatomy shows that both men and women have "Adam's apples", though it is more prominent in those assigned male at birth.... Still found the meme funny, though :).
