"Lucy Higgins, Ros Ball and Mari Craig sit down to talk about parenting boys and girls, how society treats our children differently, and how we too as parents treat our children differently. What does gender bias look like and how can we break it? Ros Ball is an author and former journalist who campaigns against the gender stereotyping of children. After many years at the BBC, her first book, The Gender Agenda, a two year diary of the way the world treats her daughter and son differently, was published in 2017. The book is an eye-opening account of the little things that cumulatively make a big difference to the way boys and girls are raised. Ros is currently writing Women Who Won, a full-colour illustrated anthology of extraordinary elected women from across the world whose names and faces everyone should know. Lucy Higgins is a Mum to two boys living in Hertfordshire. She is an International Coaching Federation accredited Coach who helps parents to achieve their personal and professional potential without sacrificing their wellbeing. Driven by her core value of fairness and empathy, she is passionate about ending the mental health stigma and achieving gender equality. Prior to retraining as a Coach in 2018, she spent 20 years in Corporate Communications - she now works with corporates and with individuals running group and 1-1 career, leadership and wellbeing coaching programmes. Her Instagram is called Big Talk for Mums (for Mums who hate small talk) because she believes we should be more vulnerable and supportive in the Mum community if we want to challenge patriarchal motherhood and create equal opportunities for women in the next generation.
