  • Episode 271 - How to get "better" resolutions
    2025/01/24

As we enter the new year it's important to take stock and listen to your mind and your body and the random man on the internet as he has a slight breakdown of recent conversations he's had about why we create art. How we improve on ourselves and how that comes through in the work we make.

Resolutions can be a flag, a badge of honour or just a bench mark but they dont need to be ruiners of your self esteem and progress. So we discuss how better is a false term and too vague or a line to request feedback or even consider yourself.

I'd love to hear the challenges you're setting yourself though and goals for the future so it you're so inclined let me know below. Meanwhile welcome back.

  • Episode 270 - The internet isn't cool anymore feat @AlternativeAdventures
    2025/01/10

Welcome to 2025! First episode of the year as is tradition I sit down with my brother Martyn and this time his Partner Amy @AlternativeAdventures as we discuss the state of online and what really is "cool" when it comes to an online database of content.

Is it slang and constant clout being shown off? Is it just a database of information? Is this just a man in his late thirties complaining about how he's struggling to find content he connects with? It could be all of the above!

Whilst myself and Martyn are very similar we differ on many key points and one is how to rectify this. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter in the comments and until then you can check out Amy and Martyn on their channel and find the podcast on other platforms:

  • Episode 269 - Is it bad or did it just not meet your expectation?
    2024/11/22

Bad is subjective but throwing out a whole things because of one aspect of what you were expecting to me seems like madness? Maybe I'm becoming the poster child of middle ground but I think you can enjoy much more in life if you embrace the things which change your view and expectations.

So lets talk, about bad things. Inspired by the recent Joker 2 reviews and Borderlands debacle I decided to look more internally a the things i've disliked and ask is what I like bad or was it just not what I expected?

  • Episode 268 - The challenge of going full creative Feat Lauren Pincher
    2024/11/08

There are a couple of guests on the podcast who have been back many times. Pinch is one of them. We met many years ago at a women in the arts event in Lincoln and since have continued to swap and share stories and tales with one another in personal and professional capacity. We in fact last sat down to do this three years ago!

Since then Lauren has gone "full time artist" and settled into the role of being a creative painter exploring the business and personal side in art and what that means to them. So sit down and chill and lets talk about what you need to do to be a "profitable artist" and the turmoil that can create as a creative.

  • Episode 267 - How to be a creative co-signer
    2024/10/25

Call it a bad habit, call me an enabler but it seems everyone I meet i encourage to make something. This could be a fundamental flaw in myself but if I have a goal that goal is to convince everyone to explore creating.

This is not to say everyone could and should be an artist but there is nothing stopping you exploring putting pencil to pad, paper to paper or baked good in a bowl to discover the fun of invention though creation so lets talk about my history of that and how talking to me can be somewhat dangerous for your free time.

  • Episode 265 - Finding an audience VS fear of having one.
    2024/09/27

This week I sit down to talk about you! Finding and audience for your work can be hard and everyone and their aunty is out there telling you how to build and grow your views and clicks. So this week I sit down to talk about the other side of it.

What about the fear of actually having one? Being held to account and needing to be kept in line because your audience begins dictating what you can and cannot make? I think this is something which stops artists and even myself promoting our work to the nth degree as we worry about losing that freedom to just make.
