  • #5: 😝 How to get your kid to take medicine
    2022/11/06

Hey, this is Nurse Lilly. I'm a pediatric nurse with lots of tips. Here's one that's a doozy. Lots of parents are so frustrated when they get prescribed a medicine for their kid for something like an ear infection, and their kid just won't take the medicine. Well, it's not foolproof, but here's a couple of my tricks.

Two of them in particular. One is act like it's yummy. We called it yum, yum in my house for a very long time and just convince them that it was yummy and that it's supposed to taste. Cuz it's kind of like when they fall over and you say you're fine. And they're like, Yeah, I am. Fine. Same thing. Act like it's yummy.

Number two, have a lollipop that they like ready. Soon as they get to drink that medicine, they can have their lollipop and it tastes good. So those are two of my tricks. Call it yummy. Give them something that is yummy. See if it works.

  • #4: ☎️ Why you might want a home phone
    2022/11/06

This is actually a well kept secret.

I know it's a little silly, and when I tell my friends, they laugh at me, but I actually have a home phone. And the reason why is because if I have a babysitter or a family member home with my kids and something happens, it's an emergency.

When they use our home phone line nine one one gets our. I know that seems simple. I know that may seem like a worst case scenario, but I'm telling you, if I call 9 1 1 or a babysitter calls 9 1 1, they're gonna know where to find my kid and help them. Whereas with a cell phone, they're gonna be asking you, the babysitter might not know where your address is.

They'll be panicking a little bit. It's just easier. So you might not have to do exactly what I did for peace of mind, but I think it's a well kept secret that maybe more parents would wanna know. Let me know if you end up buying a home phone and let me know how it's working.

  • #2: 🤧 What to do when your kid has a cough
    2022/11/06

Hey, this is Nurse Lilly here with some tips for coughing Cold season. Always ask your doctor first about medicines, but here are two very common reasons for a kid to have a cough, including babies, and it can go all the way up to any age. One of them is something called cro. It's a very barky cough. If you Google it, you'll hear it.

And if your child is having a cough and you're not sure what's causing it, you can go outside in the cold air or open the freezer and kind of breathe in the cold air with them. And if that significantly reduces their cough, it might be creep. Call your pediatrician right away. There's treatments for that.

The second thing it might be is allergies. So sometimes, especially at night, if they're having posties drip and they're coughing, that's one of the things that might be just from. Seasonal allergies, so talk to your doctor. There's medicines for allergies. I will say in my home. We use ZEC a lot, but it's not okay for every age.

Call your doctor, but trust me, could be group, could be allergies. Let me know if any of this helps.

  • #1: 😪 When your kid can't sleep because of a cough, try this
    2022/11/06

Hey, I'm Nurse Lilly. I'm a pediatric nurse, and I got some tips for you, especially because it is now cold and blue season.

If you have a baby that gets a runny nose and they're coughing at night from the postnasal drip and they're keeping you up and no one's sleeping, and then they feel even worse, here's my number one tip:

Go into the bathroom, turn on the shower to as hot as it can go. Get it super steamy and let all that mucus just drain. Trust me, it works. You can even do it for older kids. Sing a couple songs, play a couple games, have them blow their nose if they can, and they're gonna sleep better.
