In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep: they become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent, and while they sleep they go to another place....

At first glance, the world has not changed: the trams on the boulevards, the grand hotels, the cafes abuzz with conversation. The street kids still play on the two great bridges that divide the city, and the smart set still venture down to the Morgue Ship for an evening's entertainment. Yet it only takes a spark to ignite a revolution.

The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease.

Sobald Frauen einschlafen, umhüllt sie am ganzen Körper ein spinnwebartiger Kokon. Wenn man sie weckt oder das unheimliche Gewebe entfernen will, werden sie zu barbarischen Bestien. Sind sie im Schlaf etwa an einem schöneren Ort? Die zurückgebliebenen Männer überlassen sich zunehmend ihren primitiven Instinkten.

Pretend they aren't lurking in the shadows, and never make eye contact. But what happens when the events of my life spiral out of control, plunging me into a new world full of magic, death, and chaos?
