This book was born out of prayer. The lord called a few of us aside to pray. Each night, we wrestled in prayer between the hours of 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. This went on for many weeks. We came to find ourselves blessed, challenged, and purified. We came to see the lord in a new way and to understand the purpose of our being in a totally new light. This book was also born out of an experience - an experience of obedience.

What is success in the Christian life? Success in the Christian life is for an individual to be all that God saved him for and all that God wants him to be. The one who wants to be successful must, therefore, discover that which the lord saved him for and wants him to be, and accomplish it. In order to do this, he must find out the overriding purpose of God for his life and do it. He must set that purpose as the one goal of his life and then put all of himself and all that he has into accomplishing it.

The Lord has wrought something in my life between 1990 and today, largely in the area of deliverance from sin, deliverance from self, deliverance from the love of the world, deliverance from the love of the things of the world, being filled with the Holy Spirit, and the knowledge of the Lord. I now feel that I can write the book, though with fear and trembling, and not from a position of perfection, but from the position of one who has received unmerited grace to write it.
