In the weeks that followed the successful campaign to eliminate the stalker menace, David and the ladies have returned to Haven. It's been a peaceful four weeks, a return to as close to "normal" as you can get in a post-apocalyptic world where undead monsters roam the landscape and humans live alongside a half-dozen different species of inhumans.

Six weeks have passed since the official founding of the settlement known as Haven. In that time, things have settled into a nice routine for David and the ladies in his life. He's been surprised to learn that he actually makes a half-decent village leader, though he imagines some of that has to do with the fact that he shares the job with three very capable women. But things have been going well.

Two weeks have passed since the last direct assault on his new home, and a string of bad blizzards have kept him from doing much more than making occasional ventures into the wilderness to look for supplies. But now the blizzards have passed, and he and his friends are determined. They've painted a target on the thieves that have terrorized this region for the past several months, and intend to eliminate them.

Gabe's life is still changing. He can no longer claim that it sucks, but it is busier than ever before. Between balancing his relationships with Ellen and Holly, trying to get a writing career off the ground, and learning what it means to have the affection of a seductive tattooed beauty and a shy cougar, he can hardly seem to find a minute to himself. They fought for their lives, endured brutal conditions, and managed to find exactly what they were looking for: a forgotten bunker full of precious resources. Unfortunately, the bunker was just a temporary stop-gap. The slow death of starvation still looms on the horizon for the denizens of Pine Lake. If they can't figure out some way of solving the problem, they'll lose everything.

In the wake of the catastrophe that devastated all tribes on Ara Island, a new threat has arisen. The Revek. They wield death magic, command the corrupted creatures, and prepare for total domination of the island and all who inhabit it. Jak, the Amber Warrior, the man who washed ashore and built a tribe of exiles from nothing, now unites the survivors against their final threat...

Vicious wildlife, dangerous men with ill intent, and brutal cold are just some of the potential threats Chris and the women will face on their long walk down the highway.

While Chris was out finding himself and answering some crucial questions about how he wants to live his life, tragedy and bad luck was striking Pine Lake repeatedly. After a series of accidents and a run of poor luck, culminating in a freak storm, Chris has returned home to learn that the place he intended to settle down is no longer capable of sustaining life in any long-term fashion. To make matters worse, Megan led a team off on a desperate expedition to follow a modern day treasure map to what they hope to be a cache of supplies locked away in a remote prepper's bunker.
