In this episode of 5-Minute Chinese, I talk about a Japanese cultural tradition called Kakizome, the first calligraphy of the new year. I share what the event was like and why cultural experiences like this can be meaningful for language learners and for understanding different cultures.

In this episode of 5-Minute Chinese, I talk about China’s aging society. Starting with recent population data, the episode explains why aging is happening so quickly and the role the post-1960s generation plays in this process. I also share personal observations on changes such as barrier-free infrastructure and community healthcare, and how Chinese society is responding to the challenges of an aging population.

新的一年，我也希望继续学习日语、坚持健身，让《5分钟中文》在中文学习的路上继续陪伴大家。

In this episode of 5-Minute Chinese, I look back on my experiences in 2025 and share some of my thoughts and plans for 2026. From traveling in Japan and China to returning to teaching, studying, and everyday life in the U.S., this episode is a personal reflection on the past year.
In the new year, I plan to continue learning Japanese and staying consistent with fitness, and I hope 5-Minute Chinese can keep accompanying you on your Chinese learning journey.
