These tracks defined an era of pulsating beats, infectious melodies, and non-stop energy that dominated clubs and airwaves. Ann Lee's "2 Times" immediately grabs attention with its catchy hooks and became a global hit. Despite its slower tempo of 130 BPM, it remains an enduring favorite on Eurodance charts, showcasing the genre's ability to captivate audiences with its irresistible sound. La Bouche, a German Eurodance group, achieved remarkable success with their powerful vocalist Melanie Thornton. Their chart-topping hits "Be My Lover" and "Sweet Dreams" showcased the perfect blend of captivating vocals, infectious beats, and catchy melodies, making them an unstoppable force in the Eurodance scene. In fact, "Be My Lover" just got a David Guetta EDM makeover and is featured on our latest Catch-Up 2023 series. Pure Sugar's "Delicious" stands out as a funky house tune that sampled A Taste of Honey's disco classic "Boogie Oogie Oogie." While not strictly Eurodance, it exemplifies the genre's versatility and ability to incorporate diverse influences, creating memorable dancefloor moments. The album also features iconic novelty tracks like "Cotton Eye Joe" and "Male Stripper," which became instant favorites, igniting dancefloors with their energetic and infectious rhythms. The latter was recently the basis for the massive "Dished (Male Stripper)" by Purple Disco Machine. "Boom Boom (Let's Go Back To My Room)" by Paul Lekakis and the Techno hit "Jump" by the Movement further exemplify the genre's fun and playful nature, captivating listeners with their catchy hooks and energetic beats. The reworked versions of popular songs like "Listen To Your Heart" by DHT and "What's Up" by DJ Miko showcased Eurodance's talent for transforming well-known tunes into high-energy dance anthems, adding a fresh twist and reinvigorating the originals with their own unique flair. Real McCoy's "Another Night" served as the basis for September's massive early millennium hit "Cry For You." The sampling and riff from "Another Night" became an undeniable and influential element in shaping the future of dance music, highlighting the creative ingenuity of Eurodance artists. Closing out the set is Ace of Base's "Beautiful Life," a testament to the group's seamless transition into Eurodance after their global triumph with hits like "All That She Wants" and "The Sign." "Beautiful Life" captured the essence of Eurodance with its infectious rhythms,

Starting off with the quintessential Eurodance hit, "Barbie Girl" by Aqua, this compilation will take you back to the time when catchy lyrics and infectious beats were all the rage. Regardless of personal opinions about its merits, there's no denying the impact this track had on the Eurodance scene. Similarly, tracks from Vengaboys, like "We Like To Party" and "Boom Boom Boom," encapsulated the era's sound with their distinct Ibiza beat and memorable hooks, earning their place on both dance and pop charts globally. This collection also includes Alice Deejay's "Better Off Alone," a track that perfectly captured the spirit of late 90s heartache against a backdrop of pulsating beats. With its undeniable Eurodance and Techno influences, this track became a comforting anthem for many during times of emotional turmoil. Moving slightly into the realm of Trance, we have the early millennium hit "Toca's Miracle" by Fragma, and N-Trance's genre-bending "Set You Free," blending Drum & Bass, Freestyle, and Trance. Duke's "So In Love," a significant house music staple with Eurodance elements, is also a noteworthy inclusion in this volume. Tracks like Rozalla's "Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)" and Billie Ray Martin's "Your Loving Arms" offer a seamless blend of House and Eurodance, demonstrating the genre's versatility. Abigail's remakes of "Losing My Religion" and "Constant Craving" further illustrate this fusion, combining familiar tunes with a Eurodance and Trance twist for an enticing dancefloor experience. No Eurodance compilation would be complete without Nicki French's dancefloor-filling rendition of Bonnie Tyler's classic "Total Eclipse of the Heart," an exceptional blend of Hi-NRG and Eurodance. Likewise, Livin' Joy's hits "Dreamer" and "Don't Stop Movin'," provide a winning fusion of House and Eurodance. We're diving into Part 2 of the 90's House, Techno & Eurodance Classics, a swirling kaleidoscope of beats that defined an era. This mixtape features an eclectic lineup of artists who not only dominated the dance charts but also left an indelible mark on the music landscape. Let's kick things off with The Blackout Allstars and their infectious groove "I Like It (Like That)" in the D'Ambrosio Club Mix. This track took the salsa rhythm and spun it into an unforgettable house tune that still keeps dancefloors packed to this day. Pat & Mick come in with "Use It Up Wear It Out," an essential part of any '90s rave or party. You can feel the intensity in every beat of the Original Extended Mix, exemplifying the freedom and exuberance of the era. The 49'ers contribute "Touch Me," a seminal Eurodance track that captures the intoxicating blend of electronic beats and sensual vocals. The 49'ers were a project formed in Italy, and this track was one of their signature sounds that helped to solidify the Eurodance genre. With The Shamen's "L.S.I. (Love Sex Intelligence)," is a journey through electronic rhythms and psychedelic visuals. The Shamen were known for their avant-garde approach to dance music, and this track remains a testament to their inventive style. Who could forget the C + C Music Factory’s classic, "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)"? The Slammin' Vocal Club Mix featuring iconic Martha Wash belting out "Everybody Dance Now" is a burst of adrenaline that redefined what house music could be. When Stardust's "Music Sounds Better With You" hits, you know it's time to get down. This French house classic, with its infectious loop, became one of the best-selling singles of all time. Ah, Livin' Joy's "Don't Stop Movin'"—this track embodies the pulsating beats and upbeat lyrics that typify Eurodance. It's a sonic reminder of a simpler time when all you needed was a good tune to lift your spirits. Felix's "Don't You Want Me" in the Hooj Mix showcases the raving techno subculture of the '90s, a groundbreaking track that still makes us yearn for those warehouse parties. "Always" by Erasure, presented in the Microbots Trance Dance Mix, is an iconic tune that transcends generations. It combines Vince Clarke's signature songwriting with Andy Bell's poignant vocals, creating an emotional resonance that still captivates listeners today. Finally, we wrap up with Abigail's mesmerizing "Losing My Religion," an audacious techno reimagining of R.E.M's iconic song. It perfectly encapsulates the transformative power of the dance remix, turning an alternative anthem into a dancefloor masterpiece.

I went beyond Eurodance in these sets and threw in some borderline House Classics like Enigma's Sadness, 49er's Don't You Love Me, The Original I Luv You Baby, etc. that had the same appeal and fit nicely in between the obvious Eurodance Classics by 2 Brothers on the 4th Floor Never Alone, Le Click Tonight Is the Night, La Bouche Sweet Dreams as well as others. What sets this apart from its predecessors is the inclusion of Techno which is where classics like Abigail's Constant Craving (remake of the K.D. Lang classic), Friends of Carlota Fingerfoc, The KLF Justified and Ancient and the massive underground track that's like a gift that keeps on giving Give It Up by the Goodmen, which lay the groundwork for a massive party mix. We've got some garage classics by Arman Van Helden (Spin Spin Sugar and Professional Widow) who frankly had such a massive influence on House Music during the era that his contribution to the scene is often overlooked. Most importantly, I have a significant amount of cheese sprinkled throughout these two sets. Aqua's Barbie Girl made the cut while crap like Bloodhound Gang's The Bad Touch was left to the dustbin's of house music history. While Macarena by Los Del Rio Boys didn't make the cut, you can't discount its influence today on massive hits like Despacito by Luis Fonsi and more recently Mi Gente by J Balvin & Willy William. As corny as it sometimes came across, the drop-in raps have been left in place as they make up a significant portion in the history of the 90's House Music Classics. If you love this, you'll equally enjoy pt. 2 dropping on Friday. From there, I'll be heading into straight-up house territory with one new release every other day. This was a massive undertaking but definitely worthwhile. With the exception of the David Morales and Simply Red Legacy tributes, I hadn't really updated the Dance Classics section in a while. After having previewed each one several times, I'm glad I did and am pretty certain many of you will be as well. That's all I got for your mid-week hump. I'll be back in a couple of days. Until then...ENJOY! Album: 90's House, Techno & Eurodance Classics pt. 1Genre: House Music, Techno, Eurodance, Garage HouseYear: 2017Total Time: 2:13:56 1. While last week’s Eurodance set focused primarily on a single genre in dance, The Cheese Mix covers an entire spectrum from the late 80s to 2001. Unless you were living in a cave during this period, you’ll likely instantly recognize all the songs and quickly realize it just works. While I wouldn’t consider all the songs in this set cheesy, because some are timeless classics, there is enough dairy spread around here that after one listen, you may want to limit your daily intake LOL. Ultimately, this set is meant to be nothing more than good ole plain fun. In fact, I’ve got enough leftovers to create one more of this focusing on the same period. Look for that in the near future. Okay, not all that far back but it feels like an eternity. Yes, folks, I’m talking about the 90's! The 1990's were kind of a lost era, at least for me. The whole alternative music scene exploded as did grunge. House music had made significant inroads in the early part of the decade, but that was quickly supplanted by Trance and those spontaneous FUBARs called RAVEs. Ultimately, the legal grind caught on and started busting up these parties, which is when it moved above ground and became a massive money-making cluster-fuck for the investors. Out of all this spurred the late 90's phenomenon called Euro-dance. These were hyper-fast BPM's, with sweet vocals, catchy as hell lyrics and the occasional obligatory really bad rap in the middle. Over the course of the next two sets, I’ve collected some of the best of Euro-dance and sprinkled it with a couple of massive house hits (more so on v5) to loosen things up a bit. For what it’s worth, these dance hits are part of our musical history. So don’t be ashamed if you still enjoy these sugar-coated synth concoctions. load these on to your phone, jump in the car and play this shit loud enough for the world to hear! Yeah, I like 90's Euro-dance …whatcha gonna do about it? ENJOY! Album : Back Spin v4 [90s Euro-dance] Genre : Euro-dance, House Year : 2014 Total Time : 01:19:52 1.
