  • Cafe Grit 072 Don't Forget Your Checkup
    2024/07/23

A friendly reminder to all the women out there with applicable body parts...get your regular doctor checkups!

My mother died when she was just 63 years old, from cervical cancer.

Cervical cancer can be very treatable with a very high survival rate if caught early.

My mother most definitely did not get hers caught early. She died 4 weeks after being diagnosed.

Likely she had been brewing this cancer for many years, ignoring symptoms, and probably in denial.

She may also have had anxiety about going to the gynecologist as many of us do.

In Episode 071 of the Cafe Grit podcast, I talk about my mom's experience and how I have tempered my "white coat anxiety" with mindset work.

When you're done watching or listening...go set up your yearly check up!

Thank you so much for checking out The Cafe Grit Podcast!

My name is Beth Anne Campbell...I am a career coach and author of "Where The Hell Is My Bacon?" and "From BLAH to BADASS - The No-Bullsh*t Guide To Channeling Your Leadership GRIT!"

My experiences from these books and over two decades in the corporate and consulting world inspired me to create the Café Grit podcast.

This is a place where we can have real conversations about finding your mojo, channeling your inner bad@ss, and claiming your voice in the world, whatever that means to you.

I'm still trying to figure out what makes my heart sing in life and career. If you are too, grab a cuppa moxie, and let's figure it out together. Here is how you can get in touch with me. I'd love to hear from you!

  • Cafe Grit 071 My Ideal Day Exercise
    2024/07/22

If you are doing any sort of mindset or manifestation work, doing an Ideal Day (or Dream Day) exercise might be just what you need.

Very simply, your Ideal Day is a detailed account of an average day in your life, as imagined after you have achieved your dreams.

It starts the minute you wake up in the morning and continues until you go to sleep at night, and includes as much detail as you can muster - what you see, hear, smell, taste, and feel (including emotional feels).

In this episode of Cafe Grit, I talk about the Ideal Day activity and give some tips on how to level up and incorporate your goals or building a new habit into the exercise.

  • Cafe Grit 070 In the GRIT Seat with author Mike Wesolowski (The Broken Spoke)
    2024/07/18

Please note, there is some high-level discussion about child abuse (including sexual abuse) in this episode.

The Broken Spoke is the true story of one man’s determination to confront his childhood demons and finally free himself from his past.

Mike Wesolowski grew up in a home filled with every type of pain. The only way he knew how to cope with the daily torture was through self-destructive behaviors, compartmentalization, and substance abuse.

After decades of coming to terms with the shame and guilt of what he endured, he was finally able to confront his past and conquer his addiction.

    Talk about GRIT! Wow.

His healing journey has been amazing and I--Beth Campbell--am proud to call him my uncle.

In episode 070 of the Cafe Grit Podcast, I sit down with Mike to talk about his book The Broken Spoke. His honesty, vulnerability, and authenticity will blow you away.

Please visit The Broken Spoke (book) Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/thebrokenspokebook for updates.

Thank you Mike for opening up and being In The GRIT Seat!

  • Cafe Grit 069 Entrepreneurship Evolution
    2024/07/11

After being mind-blown by a mindset masterclass, I continue working on being my best self. In this episode, I talk a bit about the evolution of my choice of business (career coach and mentor).

"Career Coach" is broad and deep and I didn't realize right away that I couldn't focus on it all. It was only when I had a conversation with one of my besties that the lightbulb went off.

I needed to find my niche.

Sometimes the right person says something in the right way and it clicks.

  • Cafe Grit 068 In the GRIT Seat with Stella Scott!
    2024/07/03

"Cosmic Strategies" is a place where women with a leadership mentality go to evolve. Chills!

I sat down with Stella Scott to talk about her new mobile app Cosmic Strategies. It's a unique community that combines astrology and finding fulfillment with women's history and some kickass courses.

I did a whole Cafe Grit episode on Stella's Classy Vintage Mastery course and how it changed my whole relationship with clothing (Episode 066).

What I love so much about Stella is that she has such a passion for life! She is a walking, talking, living, breathing example of "You're never too old!"

(I hope she won't mind me telling you that she recently turned 65!)

I have a new mantra: WWSD (What Would Stella Do?) - answer, there isn't much she CAN'T do!

Thank you Stella for being In the GRIT Seat and sharing your excitement.

  • Cafe Grit 067 Mindset and Moving Forward
    2024/06/07

The biggest obstacle for me not achieving my goals, not fulfilling my dreams, not taking the next step in my career desires...is me.

    100%.

I have been falling into complacency, blaming everything under the sun for my lack of progress, and generally feeling afraid to take a chance.

I have been putting out an energy that is indifferent, afraid, self-critical...and it has been coming right back to me.

Recently I completed a week-long masterclass that was all about business mindset (DM me for info, I am glad to share).

I had a big WHOA moment on day 1. By Day 3 of 5, I was brainstorming a career coaching business. By the end of the week, I believed I could accomplish ANYTHING!

So I am jumping into it! I have no formal plan, no fancy masterclass website, just an attitude of "I can do this!"

If you think it and believe it...you can have it, do it, be it!

  • Cafe Grit 066 Fashionista (Stella Scott's Classy Vintage Mastery)
    2024/05/29

Have you ever thought about the impact of your clothing on the environment?

When Stella Scott told me she was starting a course centered around vintage/second-hand clothing, I was excited!

Before this class, I considered myself "fashion-impaired." But really, I was just lost in how to dress and look good without feeling like my mom.

(No offense, Mom...you were beautiful...just not me.)

The timing was perfect, as I was pondering my new life as a FORMER corporate queen and figuring out what was next in my career.

And this program was truly amazing in helping me explore my sense of style.

But it was oh so much more!

I had never thought about the impact of my "instant gratification/disposable stuff" mentality when it came to clothing.

(Oh, we US Americans are the GODS of "stuff.")

I am always looking for ways to improve my negative impact on the earth and the environment, and paying attention to what I wear and how I take care of my attire is a great way to do that!

Please follow Stella (she also has some amazing content on sleep) and look out for Classy Vintage Mastery if she runs it again. Worth every penny, every minute.

  • Cafe Grit 065 Talking Failure with Mike Goggin
    2024/04/12

Failure, discomfort, and vulnerability are all ways that we grow. So why do some people struggle with all three?

In Episode 065 of the Cafe Grit podcast, I talk again with my good friend Mike Goggin about failure.

We dive into several questions around what seems to be an increasing trend of younger folks being challenged with things like discomfort and change.

Why is failure and learning from our mistakes important?

How does inexperience with failure and discomfort impact us in our early careers?

👉🏽 How can we mitigate new career fear of failure and help young employees become more comfortable with being uncomfortable?

How has remote working (and the pandemic years) impacted our young generation's ability to cope with the reality of failure and how we navigate it in the workplace?

This was a great topic and thank you to Mike for another awesome episode!

What are your thoughts on GenZ and dealing with failure, discomfort, and vulnerability? What about failure in general, is it a path to growth?

For all you GenZ and late Millennials, do you feel like your generation is misrepresented as having difficulty dealing with negative situations, particularly failure?
