  • Australian Backyard Ultra Record Holder Phil Gore (What it takes to run 600km)
    2024/11/14
When we hit our limits, that's when we really find out who we are. I’m super intrigued by what it takes to push yourself and the insights you gain along the way. This throwback episode features ultra runner Phil Gore, who just became the World Backyard Ultra Champion (a title that has been beaten since then).
He completed a mind-blowing 102 laps of 6.7 km each, running for 102 hours straight without stopping. Since then, Phil has gone on to compete overseas in the Backyard Ultra World Championships and recently helped Australia snag second place in the World Backyard Ultra Team Championships. In this episode, we dive into the world of Backyard Ultras and unpack what it's like to run for days on end without a break.

I can honestly say that running has changed my life. Personally, for me, it's so much more than just going for a run. It's a physical, mental and spiritual practice. Today I want to share the power of running and why we need practices and experiences that grow us in all aspects of life.

I also drop some life lessons on the importance of doing the work.

Host Luke McLean is the founder of Project Forty. He specialises in working with men in their 40/50s to reclaim their wellness and become physically and mentally fitter, stronger, healthier and more present.

  • Author and former Navy SEAL Rich Diviney on Attributes, Optimal Performance and Leadership.
    2022/08/09
Today's Conscious Conversation is with Rich Diviney. Rich is a retired Navy SEAL and author of Attributes. Rich was part of working with the Navy's elite SEAL selection process and realised that often skilled and athletic soldiers weren't cutting it. They were the perfect recruits on paper, but he discovered that it was less about having skills and the right attributes were what mattered.
Today we discuss his incredible book (Attributes) and his work with leaders and companies to elevate performance, recruiting and culture.

Alan Stein Jr is an author, coach and speaker; he's coached and worked with basketball elite; names like Kevin Durant, Steph Curry and Kobe. Alan has taken that performance mindset, reshaped his tools and language, and now uses it to improve leaders and teams. Alan is the author of two books, Raise Your Game & Sustain Your Game. In these books, he shares his principles, teachings, and insights of the world's best thought leaders and elite performers. Today's episode is a game-changer. There are so many nuggets and insights that I recommend taking some time to pause and take notes; it's that sort of podcast. Alan has been a guest on podcasts like Ed Mylet, so I was privileged to get an hour with Alan, and it didn't disappoint. • Living simply and with gratitude with Katie Mitchell
    2022/06/08
I came across Katie in a gratitude project I did recently. Her morning gratitudes were incredible. Here's one: (Today, I am grateful for cherry blossoms! The first blossoms opened this morning on our cherry tree. She is the Grand-dam of all our fruit trees, and her blossoms signal the beginning of the blossom cascade. We will be swimming in a sea of bees, blossoms, and perfume by next week.) Katie would make my heart smile each morning, so I had to get her on the show. This conversation is all about the beauty and depth of simplicity.
