Die Veröffentlichung von Aufnahmen aus einem Schweineschlachthof durch die Tierschutzaktivistin Anna Schubert hat eine intensive Debatte über die CO₂-Betäubung von Schweinen ausgelöst. Während die Bilder viele Menschen erschüttern, steht gleichzeitig der Schlachthof mit einer Klage gegen die Aktivistin im Fokus der Öffentlichkeit.

In dieser Folge sprechen wir über den Fall und ordnen ihn aus unserer Perspektive ein. Dabei diskutieren wir auch die schwierigen Zielkonflikte, die in der Bewertung von Betäubungsverfahren entstehen. Ist die CO₂-Betäubung tierschutzgerecht? Welche Alternativen gibt es – und welche Herausforderungen bringen sie mit sich? Warum ist die Kritik an bestehenden Verfahren wichtig, ohne dabei die Komplexität der Schlachtpraxis aus den Augen zu verlieren?

Eine Folge über Aktivismus, Tierwohl, Legalität und die Frage, wie eine sachliche Debatte in einem emotional aufgeladenen Thema gelingen kann.

In this episode, our guest is Lori A. Torrini from Behavior Education LLC - she is an animal trainer and behaviorist, wearing multiple expert hats as an educator and animal caretaker who loves to teach. Lori offers assistance to enhance the well-being of the animals in our care, including the solution of complex behavioral issues. Today, she gives us exciting insights into her work with a focus on reptiles and snakes in particular.
