  • Drift Proof is a podcast designed to help you find a little bit more meaning and direction in your life. My name is Andrew Cipriano and I will be your host throughout this journey. I decided to create this podcast after spending tiresome years trying to answer the misleadingly simple question: "What should I do with my life?" I have been studying psychology for quite a while now and have come to absolutely love the subject. I currently work as a technician in a psychiatric hospital, where I see people trying to answer this same question every day. After failed attempts at finding helpful resources to answer this question, I decided that I would have to create one myself. Drift Proof was born. The name comes from the idea that drifting through life is simply not a good strategy. A far better option is to point at something, aiming, and shooting. Every episode of this podcast is themed around answering this question and I will consistently have guests on from all perspectives, professions, and backgrounds that share their stories. We will talk about where they started, where and what they are doing now, and what they are aiming at for the future. Of course, I will also be throwing in some psychological knowledge, tips, ideas, and advice along the way because psychology is where my heart lies. I hope that Drift Proof will become a valuable resource for you on your journey. Thank you for listening and enjoy!

  • Mental Health Care USA: Sam Pindur
    2021/12/21
In this episode, I speak with counseling master student, Sam Pindur. Sam is currently working in the inpatient psychiatric hospital setting and earning her master's degree on the side. The current health care system in the U.S. is very broken. Profit, liability, and insurance checklists come far before patient care. In order to make changes in the industry, people must be willing to stand up and speak about the injustices that are occurring. In this episode, Sam and I do just that. We also throw in some mental health resources, life coaching, and conversation about tyrannical workplaces. We hope that this conversation will be one of many that make waves in the corruption that is health care USA.   As always, thank you so much for listening and enjoy! • 12. Different Perspectives in Psychology
    2021/10/11
Today, I have a very special episode for you. This will be the first solo episode where I (Andrew) speak alone in an educational format. In this episode, I cover the seven basic perspectives in psychology. They are the psychodynamic, behavioral, humanistic, cognitive, sociocultural, biological, & evolutionary perspectives. As a bonus, I also touch on the positive and, my personal favorite, the existential perspectives. Understanding these perspectives is paramount in moving forward with your understanding of the mind. In order to know where we are and where we need to go, we must first understand where we have been. Today, we use a mix of all seven (and more) of these perspectives to get a holistic understanding of the individual. My information has come from different sources including my undergraduate textbooks, various YouTube videos, psychological books (some listed below), and different people in my life.  As always, thank you so much for listening and enjoy!
