  • Episode 341: Hit by a Ford Explorer at 40mph: Michael O'Brien on Presence, Mindfulness, and What Really Matters
    2026/08/12

Michael O'Brien was 33 years old, a father of two young daughters, a lifelong cyclist, and a corporate executive chasing the next version of success when a distracted driver in a Ford Explorer crossed into his lane and hit him head-on at 40 miles per hour in New Mexico.

His trauma team had no idea how he survived. His first surgery took 13 hours. He needed 36 units of blood. The doctors told his wife he would probably never ride a bike again, would walk with trouble, and would face many more surgeries ahead.

He's now, 25 years later, one of the most thoughtful voices in the mindfulness and presence space, and his framework for how to live isn't theoretical. It was pressure tested for 13 years inside a corporate career before he ever shared it publicly.

We connected through our mutual friend Megan Swan, partly because Michael and I have both recently lost beloved pets who were more like family members than animals.

We talk about what it means to take mindfulness off the cushion and weave it into your real life, why microdosing presence throughout the day works better than a 10-minute morning streak on an app, how our phones are engineered to do exactly what a magician does with sleight of hand, and what our animals are really teaching us about how to show up for the moments we have.

    IN THIS EPISODE:

    • What Michael's life looked like before the accident, including numbing with wine every night and chasing the THIS ONE fallacy
    • The question his mentor shared way too early that stunned him
    • The concept of labeling our lives and how it brings us more suffering
    • Why Michael called July 11, 2001 his last bad day, and what that decision has meant for the 25 years since
    • How to take your practice off the cushion versus leaving it there while the rest of your day burns
    • How to microdose mindfulness and the science behind why it works
    • What dogs teach us about unconditional love, presence, and the length of a life
    • What a nurse from his trauma room told him when she found him on Instagram 20 years later

  • Episode 340: 10 Ironmans in 10 Days and What It Taught Him About Mental Fortitude, Discipline, and Going After the Impossible: with JD Tremblay
    2026/08/05

JD completed the Epic Deca, which is 10 Ironman triathlons in 10 days across all six Hawaiian islands, and became one of three people in the world to ever finish it. He sold his house to fund it. He came home to a storage unit because he couldn't afford anywhere else to live. And he says the hardest part wasn't the race itself.

JD is a military veteran, an engineer, a certified naturopathic practitioner, and an endurance athlete who has spent his life learning how to build the kind of mental fortitude that carries you through not just extreme physical challenges but the everyday ones that most of us are quietly battling. Depression doesn't leave after you climb the mountain, he says. It's how you cope with it that changes your life.

We get into how he prepared for the Epic Deca, why discipline is something earned through structure and systems rather than something you're given, how he breaks down terrifying goals into something actually executable, and what sustainable performance really means when you're also a father who wants to be able to run around at the park with his son.

We also talk about writing his book, Hunger for More in Life, and one particular message he received from a reader that made every bit of it worth it.

    IN THIS EPISODE:

    • What an Ironman endurance race entails, and what multiplying it by 10 across six Hawaiian islands looks like
    • Why discipline is a byproduct of structure, not a personality trait you either have or don't
    • The difference between motivation and discipline, and when to use each one
    • What sustainable performance actually means, and why longevity is built in the connections you make along the way
    • Why your goal probably isn't big enough if it doesn't scare you, and how to break it down so you can actually move
    • How he applied the same engineering method he used to train for the Epic Deca to writing a book
    • The reader message that made him understand why he wrote it

  • Episode 339: Toppling Centuries of French Drinking Culture: Lorraine Vallery-Radot on Going Alcohol-Free in the Most Wine-Obsessed Country in the World
    2026/07/29

Imagine going alcohol-free in a country where wine is heritage, champagne is identity, and the only framework anyone has ever offered you is either you're an alcoholic or you're fine.

That's the world Lorraine was living in when she started her Dry January four years ago in Paris, and decided this time to actually ask herself why she was drinking rather than just white-knuckling a month off.

What she found on the other side of that question completely changed her life, and now she's building something that didn't exist in France even two years ago: a real alcohol-free movement, with a daily flood of LinkedIn haters to prove it's working.

We go deep into: the French moderation myth, the idea that sophisticated social drinking is somehow different from the drinking culture everywhere else, and why the real question to ask yourself has never been "do I have a problem" but "is this bringing me closer to the life I actually want to build?"

We also talk about how Lorraine built her alter ego, Lolita, as a way to step into audacity when fear and self-doubt were still running the show, and why that concept is one of the most powerful tools for anyone trying to grow into a version of themselves they haven't fully met yet.

    IN THIS EPISODE:

    • Why France has one of the most entrenched drinking cultures in the world and what makes it so hard to question
    • The binary trap: either you're an alcoholic or you have no problem, and why the gray zone is where most people actually live
    • What it felt like to go to parties sober in Paris and observe human behavior around alcohol for the first time
    • The Matrix concept Lorraine shares with her clients and how to use it to step outside the cultural programming
    • The neuroscience: cortisol spikes, amygdala activation, and why the day after drinking keeps you stuck in autopilot mode
    • How she built her alter ego Lolita to launch her business when she still didn't fully believe she could
    • The alcohol-free movement emerging in France right now, and why she keeps posting through the haters

  • Episode 338: The Universe Slammed Me Into the Earth: How Jessa Frances De La Rosa Turned a Breakdown Into Shadow Work, Memoir Coaching, and a Career Nobody Had Ever Had in the AF Beverage World
    2026/07/22
It's our first in-studio podcast! Be sure to watch the version on the Euphoric youtube channel. Jessa Frances De La Rosa accidentally became one of the first alcohol-free beverage consultants in the country, helped launch one of the first non-alcoholic bottle shops in the South, and built an entire career out of weaving together things that didn't obviously belong together, until they did. She's also a trauma-informed memoir writing coach, a shadow work practitioner, and someone whose story involves a divorce after 14 years, three kids, prior military service, a master's degree in creative writing in Scotland, the pandemic shutting everything down while she was across the ocean for the first time away from her children, and eventually painting a wall on Task Rabbit that led to the job that changed her life. We talk about what the alcohol-free beverage world actually looks like now versus what it looked like when both of us first started paying attention to it, what shadow work actually is and why Carl Jung's most famous line might be the most important sentence you've ever read, why memoir writing is the rawest form of shadow work there is, and why awareness alone doesn't create change, community does. We also get into writing, because Jessa helps women write memoirs and I'm in the middle of writing my second book, and there's a conversation in here about resistance, accountability, and what it actually takes to write the thing your soul is calling you to write that I think every aspiring author in this community needs to hear. IN THIS EPISODE: What an alcohol-free beverage consultant actually is and how Jessa invented the role from scratchWhat walking into a non-alcoholic bottle shop in Charleston looked like when it first opened, and what it tells us about how far we still have to go with educationWhy mocktails with a bunch of sugar and a paper umbrella are missing the point entirelyCarl Jung's famous line on the unconscious and why it applies directly to every complicated relationship with alcoholWhat shadow work actually is, the difference between awareness and integration, and why awareness alone can actually make things worse temporarilyWhy memoir writing takes you deeper than journaling ever could, and what it means to write as the child, the adult, and the witness simultaneouslyThe childhood associations we form around alcohol before we ever take a single sipRapid fire: the best alcohol-free drink she's ever tasted, the one book every aspiring memoir writer should read, and what her shadow would be in one word Find Jessa at jessafrancis on Instagram, thecaimcircle.com, or getuntoxicated.com Join over 20,000 souls who tune into weekly newsletters on the competitive advantage you get alcohol-free. • Episode 337: What Alcohol Does to Your Psychic Ability with Psychic Medium Dallisa Hocking + Predictions for the Next Decade
    2026/07/15

Anytime I get to sit across from someone who works with energy and the spiritual world at this level, I go straight for the question I most want answered: how does alcohol affect spiritual insights?

Dallisa is a psychic medium, intuition teacher, and founder of Spirit and Spark, and her answer to that question gave me chills.

Her explanation is straightforward: everything vibrates at a frequency, and in order to access higher dimensions, your spirit guides, your intuition, or source energy, your own frequency needs to be elevated. Alcohol lowers it.

This aligns with what I've heard from shamans and from researchers studying the neuroscience of alcohol and brain connectivity: when the different regions of your brain stop communicating, you lose access to the biggest guide you have, your own inner knowing.

We go from there into how Dallisa's abilities opened almost overnight in 2015, why she believes everyone has psychic capacity and what spirit has been downloading to her about the next decade of global change, including what disruptions are coming for education, healthcare, careers, AI, and what's coming for the coasts of North America.

We also get into astrology, specifically the North Node, which Dallisa describes as the northern star your soul aimed at in this lifetime, the clue to what you actually came here to do. She pulled mine live in this episode and I was immediately taking notes.

    IN THIS EPISODE:

    • Why alcohol lowers your frequency and blocks your ability to access intuition and spiritual connection
    • How Dallisa's psychic abilities opened overnight in 2015 through a message from a friend's recently deceased aunt
    • Why she believes everyone has psychic ability and what you can start doing today to develop yours
    • What spirit has been channeling about disruption in the coming decade, education, healthcare, careers, and the early 2030s
    • The North Node in your astrological chart and why it might be the most useful thing to look at if you're questioning your purpose right now
    • What Dallisa pulled for my North Node live in this episode

  • Episode 336: 4 Things Helping Me Heal After Loss
    2026/07/08

Grief is a strange thing to show up for publicly when you're still right in the middle of it, and honestly, parts of what I'm going through right now feel so private and so deep that I'm not even sure I have the language for it yet.

But I felt called to share, because some of this might help someone.

A few weeks ago I recorded an episode about losing Huxley unexpectedly on Memorial Day. If you haven't heard that one yet, go back and listen first. This episode is what's come after and what I've leaned into to heal and process my loss.

It feels like I'm in the middle of a big spiritual awakening. Something about grief this deep, when you actually let yourself feel it instead of escaping it, has a way of shaking loose everything you thought you knew about yourself. My values, my worldview, my identity, how I want to show up in this work is all up for questioning.

In this episode I'm sharing four specific things that have been genuinely helping me move through loss.

    IN THIS EPISODE

    • Why I deleted the games off my phone and started auditing where I was unconsciously checking out
    • The 14 books I read last month and why grief sent me deep into Jungian analysis, shamanic practices, and dream interpretation
    • What dream interpretation has opened up for me, including a dream where Huxley showed me something I needed to hear
    • The signs Huxley keeps sending me and why I've stopped dismissing what my intuition points to
    • The February knowing I had about Huxley's time, and what that's taught me about trusting what I feel even when my logical brain argues back
    • Why writing, including poetry that I haven't written since high school, has been the most healing thing of all
    • What writing my second book from a coffee shop overlooking the ocean has felt like during all of this

Thank you for the outpouring of love and messages since the last episode. Over four hundred of you reached out to share your love and sympathy. It has meant everything. This community is something I don't take for granted.

  • Episode 335: Because She Stopped Drinking, She Became The Beyonce of the Birth World with Lisa Sykes
    2026/07/01

Lisa Sykes calls herself the Beyonce of the birth world, and once you hear her talk, you understand exactly why. She's the number one business coach for doulas, midwives, and birth professionals worldwide, and she built that entire identity by refusing to do things the way everyone told her she had to.

Lisa spent 15 years as a doula after leaving a corporate career in IT following a redundancy and a moment of clarity that sounds a lot like the moment so many of us have around alcohol, a sudden, undeniable knowing that this isn't it anymore. She trained, she built a doula business that booked out in its first month, and eventually pivoted into coaching other doulas and midwives on the business-side of things.

We get into what a doula actually is versus a midwife, why the birth world has historically undervalued itself, and how Lisa built a movement around the radical idea that supporting women through birth is not a lifestyle choice, it's a necessity, priced accordingly.

We also talk about her alcohol-free journey, which crept up on her gradually through marathon training in Dubai, and how stopping drinking unlocked a level of clarity and conviction that she says 10x'd overnight. Plus the real conversation about partner objections, and why Lisa thinks the "I need to ask my husband" conversation tells you everything you need to know about whether someone is the right client.

    IN THIS EPISODE

    • Why Lisa believes pricing your work as a necessity instead of a luxury changes everything about how people respond
    • The marathon-training path that led Lisa to five years alcohol-free skyrocketing her business
    • How a redundancy and a moment of total clarity led Lisa out of corporate and into entrepreneurship
    • Why doulas and midwives have been historically underpaid, and how Lisa flipped that narrative completely
    • How to handle the "I need to talk to my partner" objection
    • The mantra Lisa and her husband have used through every big risk they've taken

  • Episode 334: Feminine Embodiment, Dance, and Why So Many High Achieving Women Are Stuck in Their Masculine: with Ashley Roberts
    2026/06/24

Ashley Roberts graduated from the 5x Certification and has built something really beautiful since then, a feminine embodiment movement practice rooted in dance, somatic work, and helping women find their way back into their bodies after years of operating purely from logic and achievement.

In this episode, we get into what feminine embodiment actually means, because it gets thrown around so much online that it starts to lose its shape. Ashley breaks it down through Marion Woodman's work, through the masculine and feminine as water and mountains, and through her own story of feeling completely disconnected from her body until she went alcohol-free and found her way into a feminine embodiment workshop that changed her perspective.

We talk about what it looks like when someone is operating too much in their masculine: the hyper independence, the need for control, the inability to receive help, and why that pattern almost always comes from a place that once needed safety. Ashley shares how dance became her way out of her head and into her body, what her Monday night movement classes actually look like, and how this work completely shifted her marriage, her confidence, and her relationship with her own sensuality.

We also get into the cyclical nature of feminine energy, how to know when softening is actually the right move versus when it's fear dressed up as surrender, and the very honest conversation about how alcohol was Ashley's old shortcut to the same thing dance gives her now, except one of them backfires and one of them doesn't.

    INSIDE THIS EPISODE:

    • What feminine embodiment actually means, and why it has nothing to do with gender roles
    • The signs that someone is stuck in hyper masculine mode, and why hyper independence is really about safety
    • Why dance is one of the fastest ways to get out of your head and into your body
    • How Ashley's marriage changed when she stopped trying to prove she was pulling her weight
    • The difference between healthy surrender and using softness as a mask for fear
    • How working with your cycle changes how you plan your energy across the month
    • Why alcohol numbs the exact thing feminine energy is built on, the ability to feel
