    2025/02/26

    Is Parenting Hurting Your Health?

Parenting in 1985 looked nothing like it does today. We might have even said it was on the verge of neglect- kick the kids outside and don't come back until I say you can. Fast forward to now – we’re working longer hours, juggling endless homework, shuttling kids to extracurriculars, and feeling the pressure to be constantly available for our children. The expectations on parents have skyrocketed, but at what cost? Have we swung so far the opposite direction that parent health and neglect are the new issue?

In this week’s episode, we explore whether modern parenting is taking a toll on our health. Join us as we uncover how to find the right balance, so parenting doesn’t come at the expense of your well-being.

  • Ep 119 More Momma Guilt (Featuring Dr. Node)
    2025/02/12

Welcome back to the Families Matter Most podcast! This week, I have a special guest, Dr. Node, joining me to unpack a topic every mom can relate to—mom guilt. You know that feeling—the stress builds, the pressure mounts, and before we know it, we explode. Then comes the regret, the guilt over everything we just unleashed on our family.

But what if we could catch it before it gets to that point? Dr. Node brings a naturopathic perspective on stress, how our mental messages and physical health play a role, and practical ways to manage it all. Dr. Node shares the triggers to watch for, those ‘light bulb’ moments that signal we need a reset, and tools to help us navigate stress more effectively.

    About Dr. Node:

Node Smith, ND is a board certified naturopathic doctor licensed in both the USA and Canada. He is an expert in stress, anxiety, and finding the underlying causes of disease in a person’s life.

Everyone was created for a purpose. Node’s purpose is to work with people. Dr. Node has an infectious way about him that inspires people and helps make the types of changes necessary for lasting health somehow easier. He is also a master at helping others overcome obstacles, or turn obstacles into opportunities. He believes in humanity, he believes in health, and he believes in those he works with. He is more than a doctor, he is a counselor and a guide.

Node Smith, ND is a board certified naturopathic physician and director of TEAL Holistic, a health consulting and wellness services firm that serves an international community. Dr. Node has also recently published his newest book, “The Witness and the Four Behaviors: A Kind and Honest Guide to the Art of Self-Healing,” which offers a DIY approach to using introspection, and body awareness to heal from physical symptoms as well as stress, trauma and burnout. • Ep 118 The Sex Bucket
    2025/01/29

Imagine you have a bucket that represents your needs in intimacy—what does that bucket look like? Is it overflowing, half-empty, or maybe even bone-dry? In this episode, we're diving deep into the idea of "sex buckets"—our unique needs, emotions, and thoughts around intimacy and connection.

We’re talking about how everyone has different "buckets" when it comes to sex, and those buckets can look very different depending on the person, their stage in life, or even the season they’re in. How do you and your partner understand each other’s buckets? How do you fill them in a way that builds connection, trust, and joy in your relationship?

To help me unpack all this, I’ve brought in my amazing husband Sean for an honest, real, and sometimes hilarious conversation about what this looks like in our marriage. From navigating changing seasons of life to addressing the unique needs we each bring to the table, we’re covering it all—communication, emotions, and practical ways to strengthen intimacy in your relationship.

Whether you’re in a thriving season or working through challenges, this episode will give you tools to identify your needs, communicate them, and start filling up each other’s buckets with intention and love.

    ❤️ What You’ll Learn:

    • What a "sex bucket" is and why it matters in your relationship.
    • How different seasons of life—like parenting, stress, or big transitions—can affect intimacy.
    • Why it’s okay for you and your partner to have different needs and expectations.
    • How to communicate openly about your "bucket" without judgment or shame.
    • Practical ways to fill up your bucket (and your partner’s!) in meaningful ways.

Grab a coffee, settle in, and let’s have a raw and refreshing conversation about building intimacy that truly lasts.

🎧 Listen now and start the conversation that could transform your relationship!
