We had the incredible opportunity to sit down with two firefighting legends, Chief Brady Hansen and Captain Jason Gibbons, and uncover the stories behind their illustrious careers. From Chief Hansen's 30-year journey, starting as a volunteer firefighter and culminating as the Fire Chief of Jackson Hole Fire Department, to Jason Gibbons' passionate path from volunteering in Lewiston to working with the Logan Fire Department, we dive deep into their motivations and how they evolved throughout their time in the fire service.
Retirement is never an easy decision, but it's especially challenging for those who have dedicated their lives to serving others. We explore Chief Hansen's reasons for deciding to retire at the 30-year mark and the importance of recognizing one's limits to maintain a healthy work-life balance. We also discuss the experiences of their peers who left the fire service due to injury, personal crisis, or discipline, and how most of them were not able to set their own retirement date. Jason shares insights on the challenges he faced in balancing family life with the demands of firefighting and the role of peer support in helping burned-out workers recover.
In this thought-provoking and inspiring conversation, we address the tough decisions and challenges that come with retirement, finding balance between family and the fire service, and the importance of having a plan. Listen in as Chief Hansen and Captain Gibbons offer invaluable advice and perspectives on the firefighting profession, retirement, and maintaining balance in life. Don't miss this unique opportunity to learn from their experiences and gain a deeper understanding of what it takes to thrive in the fire service.
