Join me as I discuss the complexities of the various MindBody healing terminologies with Sally Tether. Stemming from pioneers like Dr. John Sarno, we discuss others who are now carrying on his work and putting their own terminology in place.

The discussion includes different terms like TMS (Tension Myositis Syndrome), MindBody syndrome-disorder-condition, Perceived Danger Pain (PDP), and Psychophysiological Disorder (PPD). Additionally, we touch briefly on other topics like the fear-pain cycle, nervous system dysregulation, brain retraining, and the impact of language on the perception of illness. This conversation aims to clarify for newcomers that although many terms are being used, they all are similar concepts, and to highlight the importance of finding what resonates with you.

  • Ep 4. Does Time REALLY Heal All (Emotional) Wounds?
    2024/08/15

    Send us a text

In this episode, we explore the widely accepted notion that "time heals all wounds." I reflect on how I once believed in time's healing power, and how that belief has evolved with a deeper understanding of the MindBody connection.

If you currently have the impression that time has been working just fine for you to bury the past, I'd gently ask if you have Nociplastic pain (no damage in the body -pain in the absence of structural or tissue damage, the brain is creating the sensations) and have MindBody conditions/symptoms (e.g. Migraine, headache, tension-type headache, back pain, IBS, facial pain, TMJ, fibromyalgia, pelvic floor dysfunction anxiety, depression, PTSD, long-Covid, etc.). If so, it may be a wake-up call that this strategy could be at the root of your pain cycle. I hope this video helps! x

The discussion highlights how childhood teachings about emotions shape our adult coping strategies and responses. We'll examine the defense mechanisms and distractions we often use to avoid confronting unresolved emotions. Additionally, we’ll uncover how the brain tends to keep intense emotions hidden, perceiving them as threats that could destabilize the nervous system if fully experienced. Ultimately, this episode emphasizes that true healing involves more than just the passage of time; it requires intentional emotional processing.

In this episode, I share my personal journey from daily headaches in my teens to chronic migraines as an adult, and from their onset to discovering and implementing MindBody healing techniques for relief. I’m transparent that the road was not always a straight one. I talked about taking two steps forward and one back, but the reality is that I sometimes took many more steps back than forward until I learned to trust this could work for me. I realize now that small steps added up to big gains.

I'll explain the MindBody connection and nervous system dysregulation, then move into how I've managed to drastically reduce my migraines. Learn why I created Migraine Oasis, my experiences with various medications, how chronic stress caused a sustained feeling of “Fight or Flight” that damaged my health to the point of an extended sick leave from work, and the transformative impact of emotional processing and stress management. I hope this episode offers you hope and practical insights for your own healing.

  • Ep 1. A MindBody Healing Approach to Migraine Pain Reduction
    2024/07/21

    Send us a text

In this episode, I’ll explain how migraine pain can be triggered by our current (and past) stress and emotions that create tension within our bodies, dysregulate the Nervous System, and send danger signals to the Brain, which then triggers pain.

It is this MindBody approach to chronic pain reduction I used to end my chronic migraine after 34 years of suffering! You’ll learn how "reverse engineering" the problem can reduce pain!
