Postpartum Identity + Mum Guilt with Dr Nicole Highet, Founder and Executive Director at COPE

  • サマリー

  • In this episode I sit down with Dr Nicole Highet, the Founder and Executive Director of the Centre of Perinatal Excellence, also known as COPE. COPE is a not-for-profit organisation devoted to reducing the impacts of emotional and mental health problems in the pre and postnatal periods.

During the interview we talk about perinatal mental health conditions, statistics around perinatal mental health in Australia, the work COPE are doing to support mums. We then talk in depth about identity loss/ confusion post partum, why it happens and how we can support reconnecting to parts of ourselves again. We end the interview with a chat about mum guilt, and how we can question some of the standards that we are conditioned to believe mothers need to meet.
