PSA: Rebecca took a Lorazepam before the show. Then, we all found out about frolfing (it doesn't mean what you think it means! we swear!). Here we go.

Adult friendships are hard. You know, like how the hell do you even make friends as an adult in the first place? Where do you find these people? And how do you keep up with each other?

From awkward social encounters to long-time internet friends, we cover all the different "friend tiers" (spoiler alert: there's a lot). We also share a lot of our own personal stories, including Jamie's Fight Club friend, Rebecca's hatred of anyone named Todd, and even the knock out, drag out fight we had with each other.

And don't worry, Burnouts—our episode on enemies is TBA.

    Mentioned in this episode:

    • Our Listen Notes interview
    • That Chapter Podcast (Love you too, Mike.)
    • That Chapter insurance dance
    • Child snatcher scene from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Narrator: And now it's time for Silly Songs with Larry, the part of the show where Larry comes out and sings a silly song.

To get hyped for the show this week, we watched everyone's favorite Christian vegetables (Veggie Tales). It turns out Silly Songs With Larry was the only good thing we can recall from our religious upbringings, but let’s get into it anyway.

We delve into our personal experiences with religious trauma and how it affected everything from our relationships to our sexual and mental health. We talk about therapy, deconstructing beliefs, and the ongoing healing process. Jamie shares stories from her many years in private Christian school (including what happened when she wrote a kind of rebellious paper for Theology class). Rebecca recalls the insane moment from Jesus camp where they were told religion was outlawed as a “test of faith” in the middle of the night (wtf?). We also discuss how many religions and religious teachings are all too similar to abusive relationships and we wonder what Jesus would really do about all of this insanity if he were living in the world today.

So put on your best Sunday clothes—but don’t forget the modesty cardigan! It’ll be fun(damental). We promise?

    Mentioned in this episode:

    • Veggie Tales (TV series)
    • “Song of the CEBU” by Larry the Cucumber
    • ”Towing Jehovah” by James Morrow (book mentioned by Jamie)
    • The “Ark Encounter“ in Kentucky

  • Chik’n soup for the burnt out soul
    2025/04/02

Hey, everyone! We’re back. And it’s just the two of us this week which we haven’t done in a while. We decided to talk about all things cozy, comfy, and coping—and we all know Rebecca is all about the warm and fuzzies.

Jamie starts by talking about her visit to Super Nintendo World over the weekend and how magical it was to see her childhood come to life. Then, we dive in to our go-to comforts.

From our favorite nostalgic TV shows and movies like “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” to our top comfort foods like mac and cheese, PB&Js, and even the classic childhood favorite, Captain Crunch. We also talk about our favorite cozy video games like Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing and own up to our undying love for true crime documentaries. (Why are stories about murder so oddly comforting? We get into the psychology of that, too.)

It’s a laid-back, feel-good episode that feels like hanging out with your slightly unhinged, but always funny older sisters. So, grab your favorite comfort snack (and throw blanket) and settle in.

“Wait. Did we just do a whole episode where all we did was list things we like?”
