  • Make Space For: Setting Intentions, Goals and Creating Your Own Monthly Reset.

    This episode is all about making space for yourself! How do you want to feel at this time in yoru life? What about starting with this month?

    I've set many goals throughout my life. Some I actually met. Many I have not. As November rolled around I started thinking about the upcoming stress of the holidays and how I needed to relax a little bit more. How could I do that?

    I set to work making a monthly goal planning and reset sheet for myself, that I'm sharing below.

  • Social Media and Menopause Don't Mix!
    2024/10/30

    Do the things you watch on social media affect your mental health? Do you realize it? After 8 months off my personal social media account, I feel less stressed, more present and can get back to accepting myself as an aging woman. Am I overly sensitive and emotional? Maybe. There were just some things on social media I needed to break away from. I'd love to hear from you!   • Making Space For Menopause

    How are you transitioning into your midlife years? Are you past the "mid" part of life and working towards your 60's or more? Bravo, you, by the way. As I ask your help in renaming my podcast, I want you to think about how you are making space for one of the biggest transitions women go through, if we are lucky to do so. Yes, lucky. We all have an expiry date, as my friend pointed out to me.

  • When You Laugh At Yourself | My Aging And Podcast Update

    Its a sign of growth when you can take a good look at yourself and laugh. When you can forgive yourself for making mistakes and just be you. In this episode I talk about change. Change in this podcast, my body, my thoughts about nutrition + non diet (a bit - more to come).

    While I love to talk about nutrition and midlife, I realize how much SPACE we need to transition into this age and stage. We need to give ourselves this space. Even if it means being inconsistent. I want us all to stop punishing ourselves for not being Pinterest perfect, OK?

    And while I still want to talk about nutrition and health - there's so much more to wellness than food.

  • Returning from Burnout | Back to Basics: Sleepless and Sweaty in Menopause
    2024/02/22

    If you need a little sleep hygiene review, this episode goes back to basics and gives some tips on the basics of sleep hygiene.

    Sleep and rest become SO disrupted in perimenopause and menopause.

    This can be due to increased stress, hormonal disruptions and the increased use of stimulamts. It can also be due to changes in the body we just can't contol.

    if you struggle with sleep, and stay up for some "me time" you might want to rethink this if you suffer from symptoms in this time of life.

    Do we actually need MORE protein in perimenopause and menopause? As we age, we lose muscle mass, which can affect strength, and our activities of daily living. Can more protein support your muscle mass? Perhaps! Started with the basics, and check in to see if you are meeting the minimum suggested requirements for protein in menopause or perimenopause? Some of us need more, some need less.

    The Recommended Dietary Allowance for protein is 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight, or 0.36 grams per pound. While I don't love to measure everything, knowing the amounts of protein I may be getting in certain foods is helping me meet my personal needs for protein.

    Staying hydrated in menopause means more than just drinking water. It means understanding how your body changes in midlife when medications, hormones and even body cue changes are involved.
