  • Episode 158- Kelly Gunther: 2014 USA Speed Skating Olympian
    2023/12/24
www.GoodAthleteProject.com Today, Jim sits down with Kelly Gunther, a 2014 US Olympian in speed skating. At the age of 6, Kelly knew she wanted to be an Olympian when she saw others take the ice. She briefly took up figure skating before taking up in-line speed skating because she wanted to move faster than the music allowed. As an inline skater, she won multiple World Championship gold medals on the US relay team before transitioning to ice speed skating in 2009. It was the perfect fit. While this was the start of Kelly’s road to becoming an Olympian, she could have never predicted the obstacles that came her way. Despite having a learning disability as a student, facing setbacks in her skating career, and nearly losing her entire foot on the ice in a double compound fracture, Kelly found a way to come back each time - earning her the nickname, “The Comeback Kid.” Her story is one of incredible resiliency and determination. We’re so excited to bring you this episode and make sure to like, share, and subscribe to the Good Athlete Podcast. And now, Kelly Gunther.
