  • The Enneagram & Empowerment: Through the BIPOC Experience
    2024/03/19

We have learned so far in our journey into the Enneagram that understanding ourselves and others creates a space for compassion and empathy, and also a space to see people for the goodness that lies within them. What we haven't talked about, until today, is of course all of that, but also how we can empower ourselves to also see what is right about us. My guest for this beautiful episode is Dayo Ajanaku who, as she self describes, "offers basic Enneagram education through black culture and black images. The Black Enneagram combines her love of the enneagram, black culture, entertainment and Christianity with the purpose of increasing self awareness, growth and relational health specifically in the black community." You don't want to miss this conversation, though you should be prepared that we have agreed to keep the dialogue light, as there is so much heaviness in the world right now. See you there!

  • Cannonball! Going into the Deep End & Understanding the Instinctual Drives
    2024/03/19

It's hard to think that we all as a human race fit into 9 different types... until you start to dip your toe into the proverbial pool that are the instincts and subtypes. It is here that we can see our personalities a layer deeper, and also understand our behavior and various shades- all boiling down to the ways in which we act and react (among so many other things). If you've heard the terms Social, Sexual/One-to-One or Self Preservation, or have seen someone declare they are a SX, SO or SP Type X but had no idea what in the heck they were saying, you are going to want to check this episode out. And even if you DO know what that means, you are still going to want to tune in. Why? Great question. Joining me for this episode is, in my opinion, the absolute expert in this space, Bea Chestnut herself. Yes, I'm fangirling too. See ya there!

  • How to Truly Heal: The Enneagram in Therapy
    2024/03/19

Many of us have benefitted from the beauty that is therapy. And with that, many thanks to my own therapist (looking at you, Ann). Many more can benefit from therapists who know our personality, what motivates our behavior, what feeds our traumas, how the heck some of us process tough stuff and so, so much more. During this episode, I have a repeat (Read: Ahhhhhmazing) guest, Dr. Jerry Wagner, a psychotherapist, clinical psychologist, professor and Enneagram teacher for over 40 years enlightening us with all of the ways the Enneagram and it's teachings can enhance our therapy approaches and beyond. Can't wait for you to tune in!

  • Discovering What's Right About You: The Enneagram Prison Project
    2024/03/19

The Enneagram Prison Project (EPP), founded by my guest, Susan Olesek seeks to help incarcerated individuals, as well as those imprisoned by the mechanisms of their own minds, understand why we do what we do using the Enneagram to inspire transformation on both sides of the bars through self-awareness, self-regulation and self-compassion. As George Gurdjieff said, and as is true with the program, "it is not just difficult to do this work by ourselves, it is impossible." This program has tremendous benefit, not only in minimizing violence in prisons around the world, but helping us all, no matter the side of the bars we are on, see what is right about us. Also joining as my guest, is Dustin Baldwin discussing his experience with the program from his time on the inside, what he has learned about himself, and how he does the work now as an Ambassador. • Holding Space: The Compassionate Inquiry Approach
    2024/03/19

Compassionate Inquiry is a psychotherapeutic approach developed by Dr. Gabor Maté that reveals what lies beneath the appearance we present to the world. Using Compassionate Inquiry, both the individual and therapist unveil the level of consciousness, mental climate, hidden assumptions, implicit memories and body states that form the real message that words both express and conceal. It's through this method the client can recognize the unconscious dynamics that run their lives and how to liberate themselves from them. Join me and my guest, Dr. Mary Filice as we discuss the Compassionate Inquiry Approach and how it fits into the Enneagram. And, email me at nikkipuravidacd@gmail.com for Questions Around the Campfire. Can't wait for you to tune in!

  • The Ultimate Adventure with the Type 7 (Enthusiast/Adventurer)
    2024/03/19

There's a reason people read the Type 7 description and wish they could be the Adventurer/Enthusiast. Positive, optimistic, adventurous & free-spirited are just a few of the ways you could describe this type (I agree completely, as a 7 myself). But as we have learned so far, every type has both superpowers and liabilities. Join me and my guest, Sarajane Case (yes, Enneagram and Coffee!) as we discuss all the things that make up this bubbly ball of energy we call the Enthusiast. Email me at nikkipuravidacd@gmail.com for Questions Around the Campfire. Can't wait for you to tune in!
