  • When Your Life Looks Good on Paper but Doesn't Make You Happy with Dr. Erika Brown
    2021/03/31

Ever woken up and realized that the life you were living, looked totally perfect on paper but you still felt empty inside? You checked off all the boxes on the path you ‘were supposed to take,’ got all the degrees, achieved success by societal standards but none the less each day you still felt anxious, depressed and like your soul was begging you for a change?

Today’s guest, Dr. Erika Brown, knows that narrative all too well! In this episode, we broke down her journey leading up to all of her success and accomplishments in academia and corporate, to the warning signs her body was responding with, to when she took the leap to create a new life. Whether this is an experience you can relate with or not, you’ll be seriously inspired by her story and find plenty of nuggets of inspiration to apply towards your own journey on doing whatever it is that makes you happy! Must listen!

Things we dive into on this episode:

-Dr. Erika’s story going down the ‘educational path’ she felt she was supposed to follow

-Her experiences feeling super out of place in corporate, like she just didn’t fit into that box

-The trap we find ourselves in when we aren’t sure what else we’re supposed to be doing with our lives if what we’re doing now isn’t it

-Feeling pressure to prove everyone wrong and caring so deeply what other people think

-The unexpected hobby she picked up that ‘shook her up’ out of her corporate bubble (probably not what you’re expecting)…I loved this part!

-How she found the confidence and creativity to come back home to the places within herself she lost along the way

-Battling perfectionism, imposter syndrome and taking baby steps towards your dream life!

    More on Dr. Erika:

Dr. Erika is a coach, consultant, speaker, and podcast host. She has been a perfectionist her entire life, graduating top of her class, becoming the first doctor in her family, and having a “successful” career at several large pharmaceutical companies. On paper she had the life that many people only dream of.

After dedicating 16 years of her life to the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Erika made a decision to bet on herself. In her heart, this was more than a personal decision, this was a decision that would impact women around the world. Through her platforms, Dr. Erika helps women get clear on their path, unleash the courage to step out of their comfort zone and optimize their capacity to prevent overwhelm and burnout in the process.
