Boxing yourself and others in with labels as they can dehumanize us. While some labels are necessary on products but they are not helpful when used on people. When we lump people into a group, there can be no connection and then there is no compassion or empathy which diminishes the humanity. Even when we define ourselves, it can put a box around and stifle who we are. Blanket statements don’t work and only limit our view. When you understand somebody’s story and the root of their pain, you have compassion and unconditional love for them. Act as if you know the root of everyone’s pain…because you do.
