Ved identifikation af dødsofre ved katastrofer med mange omkomne er det nødvendigt, at identifikationen foretages og styres af en identifikationskommission/gruppe, der altid må være i beredskab og i øvrigt er etableret med den fornødne ekspertise, altså har forudsætninger for at foretage de medicinske, odontologiske og politimæssige undersøgelser.
