  • How Pain and Trauma Can Become Our Greatest Teachers with Dr Josh Sharpe

    In this episode, my guest is Doctor Josh Sharpe. Josh is a licensed chiropractor and owner of Anahata Chiropractic in Las Vegas. Josh is a proud veteran and former Air Force Intelligence Officer who served with Special Forces in Afghanistan in 2007.

    Josh works with veteran organizations like Bunker Labs, HEALS Las Vegas, and the Southern Nevada Veterans Chamber of Commerce. Josh worked in sales for a Fortune 100 company, handling upwards of $15 million in annual sales before personal and family crises pushed him fully into the wellness field.

    Josh is also the author of the upcoming book Amazon original Wired for Wellness: How to Wire your Neurocircuitry for 21st Century Demands. Additionally, Josh has worked with entrepreneurs for over a decade, on a mission to help them optimize their businesses and productivity to help create a better world of business.

    In this episode, we discuss Josh’s time in the military and what his life was like after he got out. We discuss his alcohol addiction struggles, how he began his own personal wellness journey, and where that journey has led him. We discuss Josh’s experiences with Tony Robbins and how he met Donald Epstein, his mentor for the work he does now at Anahata. We also discuss modalities that we can use to transform and overcome the trauma we have experienced into powerful gifts and true wisdom. Josh is absolutely brilliant and is always radiating positivity and optimism, and this conversation beautifully encapsulates how Josh always finds something positive inside even the darkest of the negative.

    Jeannette has been studying human behavior for over 20 years, and in this episode we take a deep dive into Spiral Dynamics, also known as Values. We discuss what Spiral Dynamics is, how human consciousness has evolved over time, and how our values determine what our own thought patterns are. We discuss how we can use our understanding of the different types of values in communicating with others, and how we can evolve and change our own values and thought patterns. Jeannette beautifully and brilliantly explains this system for us and gives tremendously useful insights into understanding human behavior, and I am honored to call her a friend and mentor.

    In this episode, my guest is Ian Garreau. Ian is a longtime friend of mine, a co-host of the Three Confused Dudes podcast, and an aspiring director. In today’s episode, Ian covers his struggles with childhood trauma and mental health, and how these experiences led him to seek out therapy. We discuss behavioral recognition, behavior change, and how Ian has found healing and growth despite his adverse experiences. We also discuss what makes a healthy or unhealthy community, how men in America are expected to act, how men treat each other, and how mental health is approached in men, or lack thereof. Ian is a phenomenal example of the power of putting your hand up and asking for help when you truly need it, and he sets a great example of our capacity for healing and growth in the face of tremendous obstacles.

    In this episode, my guest is Sam Van Horn. Sam is a master trainer, a lifelong martial artist, he studied cell biology through MITx and metabolism through Harvardx, and is the author of the Amazon exclusive book Weight Loss for People in a Hurry.

    In Part 1 of a 3 part series on nutrition, we discuss Sam’s personal health struggles with gout, how he managed his gout symptoms and has been symptom free for over three years, and how suffering from gout was a catalyst for him to begin studying nutrition. We then discuss macronutrients in great detail, offering tips, tools, and scientific research that can all be used to greatly optimize our personal nutrition.
