ROMANS 5:6-8 Trust is a big deal. Most of us want to know that the people we trust really will keep their word to us. Think about the types of people you typically make agreements with: Are they people you trust? Normally, we don’t make agreements with people we know will break their word to us, right? God made a covenant, an agreement between two parties, with Noah to never flood the earth again because of sin (Gen. 9:11). In other words, God promised never to destroy the earth, humanity, and all living things in the same way. God made several covenants, or promises, to people in Scripture, and one of the most important promises He made was to send a Savior. Here’s the deal, though: God made these covenants with imperfect human beings. No matter how hard we try, we can never keep up our end of the covenant to follow God. Because we are born into sin, we can’t keep God’s law perfectly. But God already knew that, and He still chose to make a promise to us anyway. He still chose to send Jesus even though He knew our fallen nature would mean that we’d never follow Him perfectly. While we were still sinners, before we could choose God, God sent Jesus. God didn’t send Jesus because we’re trustworthy or deserving, He sent Jesus because He loves us. PRAY THANK YOU FOR SENDING JESUS AND FOR KEEPING ALL OF YOUR PROMISES. HELP ME KEEP MY WORD TO YOU. | HOW DOES IT MAKE YOU FEEL TO KNOW JESUS DIED FOR THE UNGODLY? WHAT DOES THAT REVEAL ABOUT HIS LOVE FOR US? | WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER SALVATION IS A GIFT RATHER THAN SOMETHING YOU CAN EARN?

LUKE 17:26-36 It can be really easy to get caught up in our daily lives and in all the things we want or need to do. We go to school, work, hang out with friends and family, play sports, take part in activities—and it can feel like life is only about these things. We can forget that these things are so very temporary. The truth is that these activities aren’t sinful. In fact, many of them are good and give us the opportunity to live out our faith! But if we aren’t careful, we allow all of it to distract us from the truth that nothing we accomplish here carries any weight in eternity. One day, Jesus will return for us, and we’ll join Him for eternity. We need to be ready, and we prepare while we’re living our daily lives. In Noah’s day, the people were so engrossed in their own lives that they didn’t pause and consider a coming judgment. Maybe they saw Noah building the ark and chose to ignore the warning; maybe they heard the warning and chose not to believe in a coming flood; or maybe they never heard because their lives were too busy. The people continued to live as if a flood wasn’t on the way, and sometimes do the same: we live as if here and now is all there is. But eternity is coming. While we live and work and play, we must keep eternity in our minds. We must obey the Lord and show others how to know Him before it’s too late. WHEN ARE YOU TEMPTED TO BELIEVE THE HERE AND NOW IS ALL THAT MATTERS? WHAT CAN YOU DO EACH DAY TO REMIND YOURSELF ETERNITY IS COMING? HOW SHOULD THIS TRUTH INFLUENCE YOUR DAILY LIFE? PRAY GOD, HELP ME REMEMBER ETERNITY IS COMING. HELP ME LIVE IN OBEDIENCE TO YOU SO THAT OTHERS MAY KNOW YOU.

GENESIS 6:8-22 Have you ever felt like you were the only one? The only one trying to choose what’s right. The only one saying no to drugs or alcohol. The only one not giving in to sexual sin. The only one loving God. It can feel that way sometimes, can’t it? And maybe in your friend group, family, or school, you are the only one. Noah was the only righteous person in his society. Can you imagine that? The population was so corrupt that God decided to wipe it out, but God spared Noah and his family—all because Noah was the only righteous person. Sometimes it takes just one person to make a radical difference in the world. You've probably been told that in some form, and maybe it has become a phrase that some roll their eyes at. But it’s true. In your school, in your family, in your society, you can make a difference when you live for Jesus. It’s incredibly difficult when you’re the only one, like Noah, but God is with you. He walks with you, enabling you to continue choosing what is holy and righteous even when no one else does. On tough days, remember this: God blessed Noah because of his obedience. When we choose to follow Jesus—even if others don’t—we will be blessed with abundant life, like Noah. We may not see it immediately, and it may still feel like the difficult choice, but God will bless us. We’ll grow in our faith; we’ll be a light to those around us; and we’ll walk in freedom from sin that could enslave us. | IN WHAT AREA OF YOUR LIFE DOES IT FEEL LIKE YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE LIVING FOR GOD? | WHAT MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO FOLLOW GOD WHEN OTHERS AREN’T DOING THE SAME? PRAY LORD, I WANT TO FOLLOW YOU EVEN IF NO ONE ELSE GOES WITH ME. STRENGTHEN ME TO LIVE FOR YOU EVEN IF I’M THE ONLY ONE.
